Breasts sink when lying down

Please bear with me but I would love to hear if anyone has experienced something similar as my HA is through the roof.
I used to have quite large breasts for my small frame, then had 2 kids, breastfed each for 12 months and lost weight. I'm now 41 and my breasts sag alot but what really worries me is that when I lie on my back, the area around the areola and beyond turns wrinkly and sinks in. My nipples don't invert however. That area just looks wrinkly and empty. The skin feels thin.
I went to the GP who said he can't feel any lumps but has arranged an ultrasound to be sure. While I wait, can anyone tell me if they have experienced anything similar? The lower half of my breasts feel really empty compared to the upper half, so could this be why they look like this when lying down? Ie. due to breastfeeding/weightloss/age, or is this something worse?

It's fat loss and gravity.

Pimplebum, respectfully, I disagree.

Rocksavage I am hoping that's what it is.

I hope my original post was clear. Of course I know breasts sag the older we get and they fall into the armpits etc, but I didn't realise they could sink inwards and wrinkle around/under the areola when lying down. When I prod that area, it does feel like there isn't much breast tissue there compared to the other areas, hence just wanted to see if that was normal.

I really appreciate all the helpful and supportive comments on here.

Mine are the same. I also had a referral (also had a thickened area) and the consultant said it’s completely normal after breastfeeding. Also, it’s much less likely to be anything sinister if it’s on both sides. Hope you get an appointment soon to ease your worries.

Mine almost looks like a wrinkly dent on both sides under the nipple when I lie down

I've got big boobs on a small frame. They don't do that in the middle but they do travel towards my armpits.

If they're bothering you, I recommend doing pushups. Start small and build up to them, if you need to. It sounds like a myth, but it does actually make a difference if you've got muscle under there to support them.

@naturemumma you have described mine exactly!! I am so relieved that it's not just me, thank you for sharing

See your doctor if you think there is something medically wrong with your breasts

Get help while you are there for your HA

No one on here is going to be able to tell you anything useful as we are
a) not doctors
B) not going to tell you not to worry in case you do need to see a doctor

The OP said in her post she has seen a doctor and is due an ultrasound. She is just asking if anyone has a similar issue. Didn't you read the post?
