I have had some blood tests taken this week as my GP was concerned that the statins I have been put on for Familial hypercholesterolaemia has raised my blood glucose levels, I am diabetic type 2 but now in remission (I hope).

My GP wanted me to get the BG test in addition to the HBA1c and a variety of other tests this week as I am going abroad for 2 weeks from the weekend. He said the results to the BG should be back by Wednesday (had the blood test at the hospital on the Monday) I have checked the NHS App and the only one that appears is for my TSH level (which is normal) Am I right in thinking if I dont get a call, its probably not a bad result as I would have heard by now?

I am not taking any other medications apart from statins, (my doctor has told me to stop taking these as I am showing diabetic symptoms again (going to the loo at night etc along with pain in my back so he wanted to check liver function too) I am just concerned about going abroad without knowing I am OK, and although I have advised the travel insurance I am diabetic do I need to let them know about these new tests if the results having come back before I go.

I guess I just wondered if its odd to have only one result on the NHS app out of 9 tests taken on the same day and whether this is anything to worry about

I recently had a battery of tests and they showed up between a day to 12 days later. Some tests take longer than others. I wouldn't worry too much.

I was advised I needed to tell my travel insurer of any new information relating to health in the months between when I booked and when I travelled, but whether you need to do so would depend on the conditions of your policy. I'd phone and ask as it would be awful to need help then find it's not covered.

Thank you for responding. I am with Admiral for insurance and have messaged to see if I need to lodge the blood tests despite not having any conclusive results as yet. The one I am most suprised about is the BG as a finger prick normally shows this one up straight away and thats the one that my GP was keen to see before I go away. I am going to the local shops next to my GP later today so may pop in to see if he is sitting on the results as in the past they have only updated the NHS app after sharing any results that need action, so it could be they dont want me to freak out if its as high as in 2022 when I was first diagnosed (My BG was 24.5 then!) annoyingly I had eaten before my doctor asked me to go for a test and thats when my sugars peak an hour after food, but I am guessing at least whatever the result it will be the highest it would be, so if OK I can stop worrying. :)
