Following.

I've never gone for a diagnosis, my chin hair is very bad. Part of my wonders if it's a natural phase of ageing. And I've always been hairy (had a moustache since age 12), but the chin hair is newer since my mid-30s.

Could it be POS? Not sure if the tests you mention cover that?

Also, do you have any other symptoms?

I had a blood test to rule out Pco
And ive had a transvaginal scan to check my ovaries
Etc

Regarding the syndrome - PCOS ..
There are 4 different ' types ' of pcos.

Some / most people with some types of pcos - have high androgen - i dont have that.
Also my testosterone is normal..
And my ovaries have been checked twice in the last 8 months ..

A dr said to me that the chin hair could just be hereditary - many females have had it in my family..

Ive had some private tests via endocrinology - progsterone etc

Im looking @ checking estrogen soon..

I had some thermal imagery of boobs and arm pits done this year which said i have fibrocystic boobs - this can link to high estrogen...

Estrogen can be linked to hair growth.

My progsterone has, been recorded at over 30
But that doesnt mean much when i dont know my progesterone to estrogen ratio..

I don’t wax, I epilate. That said I don’t think I have underlying issues but thick black hairs started cropping up in my 40s in my moustache and jaw line.

I too had PCOS testing but didn’t find any cause, I have a Phillips Lumea which I use at home now as it was difficult to get to the salon often enough.

Some women are just hairier than others, as are some men. I think there’s a huge tendency to over-medicalise things which are perfectly within the wide range that counts as ‘normal’.

OP, I remember posts you’ve made before about having all these scans (not medically indicated) on your (very normal) breasts, and it seemed to me then that you have some health anxiety. Perhaps that would be a better thing to explore rather than all these hormone tests - which fluctuate from day to day and month to month anyway, so aren’t really very useful.

And I say that as a woman with PCOS and going through perimenopause.

@MyMotherMyDogAndClowns

Im at hospital tomorrow for a medically indicated procedure...

Ive been through a hell of a lot in the past 10 months

I gained 4 x new diagnosis in december
( related to findings from scans that medics had put me in for )

Im also grieving a miscarriage and a close relatives death

Ive had counselling recently and am in need of a nice holiday which i have soon thankfully :)

The body works as a whole - and the department that im at for a hosp procedure this week - have already said theyd be interested in results from another department re x y z

I understand and agree that some are just hairier than others
.but also sometimes there is a link - some hormones being v high can infact link to cell over growth re bowel polyps for example
