I've seen on here before that alot of parents of Exczema sufferers use natural remedies, change diet, lifestyle etc.
I've read things very briefly but never taken it in.
Well now I need to.

My friends dd has very bad Exczema. To the point it bleeds and a couple of days ago it has become infected. This isnt the first time either.

Also my ds1 over the last couple of months started out with little patches of dry skin but in time it has spread and it is now all over his body with red patches and dry skin all down his legs, arms and cheeks.
He's going to the Dr's this afternoon but I am presuming it is Exczema.
My friend gave me some of her dd's Epiderm but it doesnt seem to make the slightest bit of difference.

So can anyone give any advice on how to help treat it at home as well creams?

Drop dairy, drop it like a stone. My friend did this and his skin seemed to heal overnight!

An extra rinse cycle on the washing machine, and use half the recommended dose of powder. Don't use conditioner.

Get some bath oil (such as Oilatum) and dump a good measure into a warm bath - leave child to soak for half an hour.

Get some steroid cream onto the worst patches before they flare up - this can be got on prescription at the doctor.

Avoid citrus fruits for a while, as this can make some people's skin flare.

Moisturise all over at least twice daily, 4 times if having a flare up.

It can't hurt to make sure they child is having enough healthy fats in the diet.

a cream called aveeno is good i have had eczema since a child. i have found limited sugar stuff. keeping skin moisturised even when eczema ok. evening primord oil helps put moisture back in. also i don't use any bubble bath etc.

Drop dairy!
Blimey.

What do you do about calcium intake then?

Good idea about the extra spin cycle. Very good.

What moisturiser would you recommend?

Evening Primrose sounds interesting too.

My friend will be pleased about this.
Shes at her wits end with it.
