Hi, since November I have been on off ill I'm currently in bed with extremely sore throat and aching shivering with a fever. Last month I had a kidney infection. I have bad cold over Christmas and cough lasted for weeks. I've had a lot on last 6 months.

Could it be a vitamin deficiency.

I just started with the woman vitamins from Lidl
They're £2.50
Then I added more, like iron as I know I'm deficient in that , also extra d and c

I honestly can't remember
I got myself one of those pill pots with the days on and try to take them religiously

Do you take a vitamin D supplement? Vit D supports the immune system. October to April (I think) there's not enough daylight to synthesise from sunlight in the UK so everyone should supplement.

I sympathise. I've seen so many people like this and I've been the same, I never used to get sick and for the past year it has been one thing after another. I'll feel well for a few weeks before the next thing hits.

I've taken Vit D, Vit C plus Zinc, Vit B complex, probiotics...nothing has worked for me. I keep hearing that we lived amongst so few viruses for a long time, everyone using hand sanitiser, loads of cleaning everywhere so our bodies were exposed to very little. My GP told me to hang on and it will get better!

bluecomputerscreen · 16/03/2024 09:34

long covid?

have you had blood test from your gp to rule out anaemia and check for other things?

fingerscrossed2233 · 16/03/2024 14:47

Hmm I'm not sure. I don't think I ever got covid and then after the pandemic I just take it as a cold.

In November I had a very bad cold cough and it lasted weeks but I just get swollen glands, sore throat I've had kidney infection last month now tonsillitis or strep throat. Then I'm ok for a couple of weeks and it's back again,

I'll try the sanitizer!

In August I left a stressful management job to be a hse advisor so I don't have the stress I did before. Yet since I started my new job I've been on off poorly,

My new job is at a large college and I did think I wonder if this has contributed to me catching illness. 4500 students daily it could be that.

I have been and got multivitamins and some vitamins D. Will add more soon. Hopefully this will help,

I've even for a couple of months made sure I drink more water. Try and go for walks daily. No improvement.

I'm 37 and wondering if I could be pre menopausal I'm unsure of this would contribute to getting sick..
