Fasting during pregnancy?

I'm 11 weeks and accidentally fasted on Sunday, it was Mother's Day and we went out for an enormous roast and pudding. I finished eating at 2pm and couldn't face more food until I started to think about it after 8.30pm, so didn't bother.

I felt so amazing the next day, full of energy, looking forward to breakfast, and generally great. I wouldn't make it a daily thing but if I let my body use up what it has once a week would that be detrimental? I don't see why it would although in second trimester I do need more calories so perhaps would be harder.

This isn't purely to feel good! I felt amazing and loved a fast before pregnancy.

I really wouldn't, there's very little evidence that fasting is good for women (most of the research has been done on men who respond differently) and it may make it harder to ensure you have good levels of calcium and other substance which can be depleted during pregnancy with long term detriment for your health. I'm sure that one day of not eating much won't do harm but doing it regularly sounds too risky.

Missing one meal because the meal before it was huge isn't really fasting, just listening to your body's hunger cues. I wouldn't recommend a true fast during pregnancy but there's no harm in identifying that you've eaten plenty during your other meals and don't feel peckish. I'm 35 weeks and yesterday skipped dinner because we had a big portion of fish and chips at the beach for lunch and I just wasn't hungry again later. Not an issue even at this stage but I wouldn't have deliberately avoided eating if I was hungry.
