I've been awaiting these results for a week now. I've been having problems with super vague symptoms for almost two years. The GP I saw last time was shocked that I hadn't had hba1c and vit D. I've just looked on the NHS app and seen this been filed today. No one has called me or anything to explain. I'm now in meltdown mainly due to the HBa1c. Not so much the vitamin d. I know no one can diagnose me but I'll not sleep tonight through worry. My questions are. Am I deficient enough in vit D to have unpleasant symptoms and does this abnormal hba1c mean anything? From my hat I can gather I'm not diabetic so? Pics attached and any advice appreciated.

Sorry if I've missed something, but why are you in meltdown about the HbA1c result? Its normal! 😕

Sorry. The top of the page says "abnormal" and "patient to pick up script".

Your HbA1c is fine, it's just the vit d that is low and yes that can make you feel generally rubbish. The script will be for strong vit d tablets I'm guessing.

That abnormal and script info is likely in reference to the low Vit D and getting a script for a stronger Vit D supplement! Hard to tell from the screen shots how the pages were formatted etc.
The range for the HbA1c on your own results says 20-41, and yours is 33- so well within the normal range! If your user name is indicative of truly being overweight, its obviously advisable to get to healthy weight range to help prevent other health issues such as diabetes though. I hope you get some sleep.

These are my latest vitamin D levels. When they drop this low I am just given a loading dose of 25,000iu twice a week for six weeks then back onto 2,000 daily. Other vitamin and mineral levels require regular infusions but I never have them for Vitamin D.

Thanks. Just to add. I've been working hard on losing weight and I've lost 18lbs in 8 weeks so far.. although that wasn't what I was posting about in reference to my weight.

Well done on the weight loss OP. You need to update your username to NOT forever fat then or something more positive. x

Still a very long way to go but I'm going in the right direction. Thank you 😊

It's a normal loading dose in my experience. I have infusions for several others including copper, zinc, iron, etc. but never D

NC03 · 14/03/2024 00:20

My vitamin D level was awful in 2020, think it was about 9
Kept getting really bad shin pain
They gave me a loading dose and I take 4000IU daily and I've got it up to about 67 now and still actively trying to get it up a bit more

ForeverFat24 · 14/03/2024 00:26

Thank you. I was just curious to see whether my vit D could potentially cause unpleasant symptoms. Ie dizziness, fatigue, bone pains. (Also I my shins but strangely just my right one!)

I can't help on that one because I have chronic malnutrition so I always have those symptoms. What I will say is that if the levels are dangerous I get a call and am admitted immediately. I've had vitamin D numbers far lower and never needed more than a loading dose.
