Podiatry - first appointment

If a podiatrist decides that removal of a toe nail is the best course of action, is that something they can do during your first appointment, or would it require another “surgery” appointment?

This is on the NHS, not privately.

I'm presuming you would need a local anaesthetic for that so would think you would have to go back? Hmmm. I've only seen a Podiatrist for bone stuff.

To answer my own question… if they are removing a loose nail which already has a new nail growing under it, they can remove the loose one there and then by clipping it off. If they’re removing one still properly attached at the cuticle which needs anaesthetic, that would always be a second appointment.

Turned out they only needed to clip the old/loose one off for me. For now at least. Hopefully the new one starts growing back OK now.
