presumably the prescribing medical professional could see you were pregnant?

Zapain worked for me.

Had to be prescribed by my GP who I begged for something because the dentist can only prescribe certain things and decent pain relief seems to not be on their remit. My GP did say that because it was a dental issue the dentist was responsible for prescribing antibiotics and pain relief. GP did it anyway

I was in absolute agony

the amoxicillin will kick in very quickly

You can buy paracetamol and codeine over the counter.

Hopefully the antibiotics will work quickly.

I’d say go back to the dentist for better pain relief. If they say they can’t because you pregnant then direct them to this service - https://uktis.org/ say you’ll wait until they’ve spoken to them. There are many pain relief options available for use during pregnancy.

Many women take codeine if needed during pregnancy. There is a slight risk if you take it early on and potentially the risk of baby having withdrawals with heavy use up to birth but you need it for a temporary problem. Go back to the dentist if your GP won’t help. There is a number the dentist can call for advise on prescribing pain relief during pregnancy if they are not confident about it.

If it as me I’d get someone else to buy it for me over the counter and not say it for a pregnant woman. Obviously that isn’t advisable but it’s what I would do if I needed relief quickly.

Take the lowest possible dose for the shortest possible time.
