Is this vertigo?

For the past few weeks I have felt really dizzy anytime I lie down, literally the room starts spinning and I feel as if I might pass out. It's ok in bed but if I lie on the floor I have to get up immediately. Today it even did it when I just tilted my head to the side. I have no other symptoms really, I had a virus and a sickness bug a few weeks ago so don't know if it's a hangover from that.

Is this what vertigo feels like? Or does it sound more like a sinus issue? Any input welcome

It sounds like an inner ear issue.

Google the epley manoeuvre. You may have dislodged crystals in your ears and doing the manoeuvre will shift them.

Agree with @Puppupandaway I had vertigo a while back when getting up, looking up, turning over in bed etc. It's to do with the crystals in your inner ear moving. I did the Epley Maneuver at home. It worked for me and completely got rid of my vertigo.

Oh thank you I will definitely look into this

Hiya, I had very very similar a couple years ago. Followed on from a viral infection I had a couple weeks prior, I was diagnosed with labyrinthitis. It was awful, couldn't drive or anything. Literally felt like my eyes would roll back in my head out of dizziness to the point I'd dread lying down. The GP prescribed something for anti dizziness which helped slightly but took a good 2 weeks until I was feeling better.
Hope you feel better soon!

I've had vertigo many times over the years, usually after a virus. I started with it a week ago, turned over in bed and woosh, the room spun round.
It can be many causes but the most common is called BPPV. Essentially triggered by moveing your head in a certain way and caused by crystals in your inner ear being displaced.
It's true the eply manoeuvre is a treatment, but, you need to test first which ear is the culprit so you are doing the manoeuvre on the correct side.
If in doubt see a GP and don't drive until better.

I second what @TheBackingSinger says, be sure you knew which side is effected before doing the Eply manoeuvre. if you do it the wrong side, you make the situation worse. Also, again, as @TheBackingSinger says - no driving - I think its 6 months after a vertigo attack is over before you are legal to drive again.

I have this but not as much when lying down. It's more when I move my head certain ways. it's extreme dizziness and light headed and I feel like I might pass out and my eyes are rolling iny head. Iv had it well over a year. I was diagnosed with BPPV. Could be the same as me. It's bloody awful. Mine comes and goes now usually flare ups that last a couple of days.

I have had vertigo in the past which the room spins even if I move my head at all. Could be standing, sitting. It’s awful. However I have been left permanently with what you describe. If I lie on my back on the floor the room spins. If I turn my head while lying down the room spins. If I’m doing yoga and turn my head the room spins. They think it’s dislodged crystals. Have tried the epley manoeuvre several times but it’s never worked. It’s basically a permanent thing I have to live with now

Mine was vestibular neuritis bacterial the consultant said. Six weeks in bed was grim.. the antibiotics fixed it. But I had to retrain my brain with exercises given by the physiotherapist.

Lying on the floor doing my exercises even 15 years later I get the dizziness. Also getting out of bed too fast.
