Gallstones without the jaundice

Hi,

It is possible that you can get gallstones without yellowness?

My Dad has said there is a history of gallstones, kidney stones and stomach ulcers throughout the family after I came to a dead end with the nhs gynaecologist.

Whilst I was on the GLP1 Injection trulicity that is out of system shortly if not already. Never had any bad side effects. There is no stock I can get hold off so I chose to make last Wednesday the last day for the injection.

I don't want it to be gallstones but I wonder if you can get it without the yellowness? I've lost about 2 stone in 3 months, after a diarrhoea episode early hours last Saturday, I didn't take anti-diarrhoea tablets to stop as I was afraid I'd get constipated for having the general anaesthetic so I just took the replacement salts sachets and Saturday has soup and toast. Sunday I had pale brown stools and since that diarrhoea attack I'm getting like eggy/metallic burps coming up, no shooting tummy pain just no appetite and the diarrhoea has just continued, yesterday's food eaten seem to come out as undigested but I accept that was like just 24 hours after the ga.

I looked through the leaflet for the Mirena coil but that doesn't mention diarrhoea being a known problem/side effect.

I'm seeing the GP tomorrow to pled they recheck thyroid levels.

Yes you can have gallstones without jaundice, the jaundice occurs when a gallstone passes out of the gallbladder and blocks the bile duct.

I'm afraid I couldn't follow about the GA you had and what for, couldn't see where in your post you said this info. Apologies if it's me missing something, slightly sleep deprived after my baby woke up a gazillion times last night poorly.

Thank you, bless you. I had the ga for gynae issue which I'm now discharged from as they put the coil in so it's problem over. I was scanned as having a Fibroid May 23 which I put many symptoms down to, when they did vaginal surgery 10 months on it's gone.

I saw the GP who said he doesn't really want to know as he is not my regular named GP (never seen the same gp ever so confused at hearing this) although he agreed to give me a referral of some sort via the surgery secretaries I can hopefully take private. I also found out the hospital learnt from pre-op bloods for the hysteroscopy I was being slightly overdosed on levothyroxine for under active thyroid. Please let that be the reason for all or some of this.

There is confusion over whether they done a biopsy but I've been told I need to 'sort it' with gynae myself.

Fortunately I didn't stop paying into Benenden Health like I was going to and they said they could try and see me if nhs waiting times exceed theirs or something like this, do I source how long it would take for the nhs to see me?
I can get hold of savings I'd tucked away so I'm not sure what to do for the best.

Gall stones can be easily treated with removal off gall bladder. Most women have them but not all will never treatment. Losing weight can trigger them into becoming problematic.

Your post is hard to follow, and you don't mention any symptoms apart from diaorrhea so it's hard to advise, but I can tell you that I had gallstones without jaundice.

Guttedme · 07/03/2024 11:44

Thank you again, I've freely admitted to all and everyone medical that I've been on the GLP1 injections. (never hidden it but they kind of said I'd be rolling around in pain)

The diabetic nurse noted I need to get to 7-9 stone and was planning to put me on more medication tomorrow.

Jesus, that doesn’t make much sense! I can write in English but I can’t multitask.

Hi there.

I'm not an expert but when I had gallstones severe pain was the main symptom. I didn't have jaundice, and didn't notice a change in bowel habits. Someone who knows better may correct me, but in the meantime I think that if you're not having episodes of severe pain you're unlikely to have gallstones.

Bluestar23 · 08/03/2024 20:50

I agree with above.
I had them out a few years ago.
If I ate too much fatty food in one go I'd be in excruciating pain.
It was like 5g of fat in one meal.
I lost lots of weight but it was because I wasn't eating fat.
I also never suffered diarrhoea but think I was just lucky.

ADHelpD · 08/03/2024 20:52

Absolutely. I had my gallbladder removed privately after a scan showed gallstones, I had 3 massive ones and never even hinted at jaundice.
