For a couple of weeks now, all arts of my legs, feet and pelvis randomly vibrate.........yes vibrate, it feels exactly like a mobile hone vibratingin your pocket, it only last a few seconds, what could it be?

orgasm?

I always fancied contracting that spontaneous orgasmic disease...........

Seriously it could be a nerve damage thing, I get spasms down my legs because of a spinal disorder.

mybrainaches · 25/03/2008 19:11

If they are orgasms then they are nothing to write home about I can tell ya

If you have not had a recent virus or been poorly I would suggest a visit to the Dr. Try to keep a diary to see when they happen eg after specific foods, when very tired, after exercise etc.
If you can rule out the above then it sounds like nerve problems so you need to see your Gp.

mybrainaches · 25/03/2008 19:19

Do you think it could be a stress thing, my marriage broke down a couple of weeks ago?

LadyJH · 25/03/2008 19:22

It is definitely nerve damage. I get the same sensations when my sciatic nerve is playing up. It is a very weird sensation. It is like something on the outside is making the vibration, but it isn't a pleasant sensation. Go to your GP and get it diagnosed.

MrsThierryHenry · 25/03/2008 19:25

You poor thing. I really hope it's not serious. Can I just add that if your GP is unsympathetic you should push for a referral or go to a different GP. I'm sure you know that they often don't understand 'unusual' symptoms and tend to view them with a rather closed mind.

mybrainaches · 25/03/2008 19:27

Thanks, will get to the GPs

Oh, and I am so very sorry to hear about your marriage. Do you feel that you are being supported as you go through this painful experience.

I don't know anything about a physiological cause of your physical symptoms but you are right to ask whether there might be a connection to your emotional state. 'Psychosomatic' conditions should not be regarded as being 'made up' or 'all in the mind', as some people still believe.

For instance, people who regularly experience extremes of rage are at high risk of developing high blood pressure or even heart disease - conditions which nobody would question. So be assured that bizarre and powerful things can happen to our bodies when we experience trauma.

Another thing - have you sustained any sort of injury in the last few weeks or months? Perhaps the other people on this thread who have the same vibrating condition might be able to shed more light on what caused their symptoms.

If your GP offers no help you might want to check out an osteopath as they're usually spot on when it comes to diagnosing odd symptoms such as yours. If you live in London I can definitely recommend a fab guy who sorted out a weird 'heating' sensation I used to have in my ankle.

Best of luck!

mybrainaches · 25/03/2008 19:40

Have'nt injured myself in years, and not been ill for roughly 18 months, and yes, luckily I have plenty of support, thank you for asking

I'm glad to hear that you're being looked after and it sounds like you must be pretty healthy. I hope your body doesn't cause you any lasting problems. It sounds as though you have more than enough to deal with right now.

All the very best, hon.

Sometimes a damages nerve ending can cause strange sensations, a bit like vibrations/pins and needles but bigger. Have you banged your back or pelvis?

Or it could be aliens trying to beam you off-world. Personally I'm in a silly mood and would go with anyone who could take me away from all this.

mybrainaches · 25/03/2008 19:51

The alien thing is more likely

but seriously, no bangs or bumps at all.

I too think it is a nerve issue - please go to the doctors straight away.

MadameCh0let · 25/03/2008 19:55

I had that, and it was not psychosomatic!!

It went away when I got past about 20wks I think.

mybrainaches · 25/03/2008 19:58

Ok, I will get to the docs, its definately a strong vibration, no pins and needles, and I am not pregnant

bagsforlife · 26/03/2008 08:56

I have got the same!!!!! Been to the doctors who said 'could be anything' (helpful) and has done blood tests, waiting for the result. How old are you? I am 48 and think it could be to do with the menopause. Saw something on a website about strange tingling sensation. However, mine has gone off a bit recently (have had it for at least a month I think) and also realised didn't have it when away for the weekend. I am beginning to think it might be something to do with trapped nerve when sitting at the computer..Mine also not pins and needles or numbness. Perhaps it is hormonal if pregnant poster had it too. Also I have got an intermittent bad back I have had for years and years. Am also wondering if it is psychosomatic as didnt have it on weekend away, but have had it when talking to friends etc (ie distracted, not thinking about it!). Please post what your dr says!

Flight · 26/03/2008 09:00

In the circumstances I would definitely put it down to stress. These things can be very strange, often you can think you are fine but your body gets odd little symptoms which are just a way of expressing the fact you are strung out a bit

I have had odd nervous tingling and dizziness and stuff like that, because of stress.

Don't panic just yet!

AMumInScotland · 26/03/2008 09:18

Does it seem to be the muscles twitching? That can be a symptom of stress - in some cases it's a muscle you can actually see, but if it's deeper in you would only feel it. If it came on at the same time as the marriage breakdown, I'd say stress would be a very likely cause. If it is the mucles, then moving around should improve the symptoms. Do see the doc to rule out anything else, but I'd say don't fret about it.
