Does High Blood Pressure cause any symptoms? Or could it be a change in meds?

Or could it be a dose change in levothyroxine?

I increased my thyroxine in Feb to 50 - I started on 25 in November and there was no improvement in my blood tests

and at my last appt my blood pressure was high

So I'm a bit queasy, my head is woozy and I have horrid headaches

Hey @KatyMac how are you doing now?

I was on 50mcg levothyroxine for 8 weeks and only got worse. Even though my bloods looked "normal" according to GP. He said my symptoms must be depression, or I could feel he was going to go in the direction of ME/CFS.

I am seeing a private thyroid specialist and I've now started NDT (Natural Desiccated Thyroid) which is a different drug and only available privately. My doctor said levothyroxine clearly doesn't suit me. It is a scandal that thyroid conditions are so badly treated on the NHS. I am a week into NDT and seeing some small improvements.

I appreciate private care isn't always feasible for some people, but don't let your GP tell you its not your thyroid causing symptoms, and try to lump some other diagnosis on you. If you've got a thyroid condition that's not well treated, its always the bloody thyroid.

Yes I'm so broke I can't even pay for a proper set of blood tests

Good luck

I sent it all to the gp and got a text message back

Thanks for providing the home blood pressure readings. I am pleased to say that your BP reading is within normal range. Please continue with your current medication (if already on medication for hypertension) and healthy lifestyle, see the link below for more information:

So as I'm not and never have been on medication for BP, that seems a little generic as a message

But at least it isn't a problem

How can lifestyle changes help lower blood pressure?

Losing excess weight can make a big difference. Blood pressure falls as each excess kilogram is lost. Losing excess weight has other health benefits too.
