Does Prune juice work for children?

My 6 year old son has been complaining of it being sore when he does a pooh - says it feels like its too big to come out. He sits there for ages as well. He goes to the toilet regularly (at least once a day) and eats a good diet so not sure why he has this problem but I wondered if prune juice was likely to help - any thoughts or other suggestions? Thanks

can work for kids. my ds has it.
You could also get 'calfig' - syrup of figs from chemist
chocolate also apparently makes them go!

Yes prune juice works- so do prunes, pineapple and rhubarb. You can freeze them into icelollies if you puree them or sneak a couple of tinned prunes into a smoothie.

Oh thanks a lot. He likes dried apricots and eats them already so would be more than happy to eat more of them ! Will maybe get that calfig as I think the effect of it seeming like medicine might also work. Forgot about rhubarb - he's actually very good at trying things and accepts the whole 'if it tastes yuck it must be good for you' reasoning. I suppose I'm also surprised he has this problem as he eats bran flakes for breakfast and loves fruit and veg. Will add these things and see if it works though.
