I am 32 and was diagnosed with PCOS about 5 years ago...diagnosis came about when my periods still hadn't returned 18 months after stopping the pill.

I was lucky and conceived pretty quickly when my periods returned, albeit irregularly!

I can live with the irregular periods, but since stopping b/f my dd, my skin has turned into that more usually seen on a 14 year old! I spent 10+ years on the pill which cleared my spots up brilliantly, but I am reluctant to go back on the pill as I don't want to have to wait 18 months for my periods to return again when we want to try for no. 2!

Has anyone got any suggestions for (non-hormonal) treatments I can try to get rid of these spots - they are mainly only on my chin, but of a fair size and constantly there

Actually there is no evidence to suggest that the pill is responsible for failure to ovulate. All the problems you write of are all associated with PCOS.

The pill has anti androgenic qualities (Dianette is often used for such problems and many of these women do have polcystic ovaries) and this property helps reduce spot formation. BTW many women who present with adult onset acne actually have polycystic ovaries, the PCO being underlying cause of such problems.

Would suggest you try tea tree oil as this is non hormonal. Also would suggest you look at Verity's website which is www.verity-pcos.org.uk as they are a mine of information for any woman with PCOS.

Thanks - have been to gp this morning & am trying a new topical cream, but will look for some tea tree oil.
