Constant cramps

I'm at the end of my tether with cramp. GP said to take a magnesium supplement. I've been doing that for months but it doesn't make any difference. I get really painful cramps about twenty times a day all over my body. For example, I bend down to unlock my bike - cramp in my side. I stretch my arms over my head - cramp in my back. I pull my swimming cap on - cramp in my eyebrows!!! Any stretch or movement is tricky. I know it seems trivial but surely there is something I can do? I have already tried drinking more water.

My friend gets cramps from antidepressants. When she quit them they went away.

Thanks but I'm not taking any medication.

I get this and have done all my life. I've tried everything, including quinine on prescription (no doubt you'll have read advice to drink tonic water but the amount of quinine in it is tiny) but nothing helps.

It's worse if I've been drinking a lot of alcohol but ironically a really bad bout is eased for me by a tiny glass of red wine. 50ml or so is enough to help. It doesn't work if I've already been drinking other alcohol though!

My mum has suffered with regular cramps for most of her life, totally debilitating. She had tried quinine, magnesium etc She was advised to drink dioralite (rehydration drink), it has transformed her life. Hardly any cramp and much less severe. Might be worth trying?

@ChocHotolate Thanks! I'm willing to give almost anything a go!
