Hi,

Thanks for responding.

My uncle, 77 is currently in hospital. He started off on ICU after being admitted with community acquired pneumonia He has had 9 days of antibiotics and has now been able to leave ICU, and go onto the respiratory ward.

my concern is that he is still needing quite a lot of oxygen. His SATS drop when this is removed. He also suffers with heart failure, and some lung scarring/fibrosis, however the doctor doesn't seem to think that these are the main issue right now.

We have been told that he needs to be weaned off the oxygen now. He also has some signs of infection still. I am worried that he might never improve from this state. What happens if he simply remains reliant on oxygen??

For context, up until three weeks ago he was living a normal life - going shopping, park walks, going out for meals etc etc. It has been a sudden, acute issue.

I desperately want him to get well, but I worry that this could be the start of the end for him.

He might have to have O2 once home if he is not keeping his Sats up .Just wait and see.X
