Help needed with Hashimotos diagnosis

Hello, hoping someone could point me in the right direction.

I've been testing my thyroid for two years as have had a heap of symptoms pointing to an underactive thyroid since my son was born. Weight gain, hair loss, fatigue etc.

GP has never been interested but did test me for celiac which came back negative.

My recent results (Feb 24) show my TPO antibodies are up and the medichecks feedback mentions possible hashimotos.

My question is-what do I do now? Is it worth going to GP? Do these results confirm Hashimotos? Would I need medicating?

Unsure of how to progress given previous brickwall at GPs on subject.

TIA

Have a look at thyroid uk forum, loads of advise on there.

I have hashimotos hypothyroid.

As far as I'm aware, as your TSH is normal the GP won't do anything. There is no treatment for raised thyroid antibodies beyond dietary changes.

Your levels are only raised very very slightly, and they've been stable and within range for over a year. I'd guess they'll go back into normal range with your next test.

For comparative purposes, my thyroglobulin antibodies are currently sitting at 302.8 according to my last Medichecks test a few months ago. The only thing I can do to reduce this is to cut out diary and gluten. It works to reduce antibodies but I don't see a significant shift in symptoms enough to warrant cutting it out entirely.

I have hashimotos and my antibody levels are in the thousands. My tsh and t4 levels are usually abnormal too and I'm treated with the only thing GPs will prescribe... thyroxine! GPs don't know much about hashimotos to be honest. Unless your tsh goes into the underactive category they unfortunately won't give you any meds.
Do you have symptoms?
It would be worth continuing to monitor your thyroid levels every 6-12 months to look out for any changes.

Thank you for your replies, reassuring! I'll continue to monitor.
