Flu 2024

Hi all,

I treated myself to a round of Covid in January and in February I thought I’d get the flu 🫠 Started off fairly mild over last weekend, thought it was a cold and cough. I then felt like death on Tuesday and had a high fever. Took a flu lateral flow (they exist!) and tested positive for flu. We’re now on Friday and I had a better day yesterday without a temperature but it’s back again today at 38.4. So, I’m on day 8 in total.

It was my daughter’s birthday yesterday, so I used all my energy to take her out and now I’m not sure how to survive another 3 days of parenting and a birthday party on Sunday.

I can manage if I don’t have a temperature, so any reassurance that by Sunday (it’s Friday today!) the temperatures might have gone? This is so vile, never not having a flu jab ever again!

It's difficult to tell with flu.

I know you want reassurance, but when I had flu, it took 2-3 weeks.

And having recently had covid (which is utterly notorious for lowering your immune system) it's that bit easier for subsequent infections to linger

Get as much rest as you can, hope for the best

Pray for me… twenty 3 years olds descending on a village hall on Sunday. Exactly the treatment for flu!

Same started off as the nastiest cold, had been feeling weird though since covid after xmas. Now on day 9 since the flu symptoms hir full force (cold was about 5 days prior to this weirdly) and still really exhausted and achey and not left the house .
