Can anyone interpret remarks on a ecg?

Had an ecg on Friday & "everything is fine, all normal"

Then I noticed this, don't really want to Google but I'd like a bit of help knowing if I should ask the GP about it

004 Normal sinus rhythm
150 Left ventricular hypertrophy
275 Abnormal repolarisation, possible coronary
ischemia
284 Prolonged QT interval

Thanks

Oh jeez. I doubt if you do actually have CFS, it’s often a diagnosis given when it’s actually been thyroid all along.

I’ve had autoimmune thyroid disease for almost 40 years and have generally been ok, however in my 40s a GP suddenly reduced my levo dose by 50mcg and my health came crashing down. But on paper my bloods looked “fine”. So a good GP will treat the patient and their symptoms not the bloods. Until then I’d just done whatever I was told…

25mcg was too low for a starting dose and you want to keep increasing 6 weekly - till you feel well basically. It’s also worth finding out if it’s autoimmune (GP can check antibodies), and get B12, Folate, Vit D and Ferritin checked and make sure those are at good levels as autoimmune disease can impede absorption of key nutrients. Low ferritin also makes you feel crap for a start (and by low that’s less than 50 and you want it over 70).

Thyroid disease does affect cholesterol and mine runs a little high too (I’m fit and healthy and do all the right lifestyle things but it’s the way it goes). But there is research that indicates thyroid patients can have a higher risk of side effects on statins so it’s worth seeing if on optimum dose of levo it comes down.

The good news is you’re going to feel a LOT better! Good luck!

The CFS thing has got me worried tbh

Id rather not experiment with 2 drugs at once; if I get better or worse how will I know which one it was; so sort out thyroid then worry about statins

I increased my hrt oestrogen at the same time as starting testosterone and it took bloody ages to work out the oestrogen was the problem causing side effects. I'm on a lower dose now and it's fine

@KatyMac did you get a follow up or any other info? I've had a similar result but without the LVH and I'm panicking! Wish I hadn't looked before the GP had assessed the results!

Not really I am saving up for a private appt as my gp is gaslighting me

I wasn't sure but my daughter came to an appointment and she was horrified at the way the gp spoke to me - even I front of her

Not sure yet what type of specialist

Oh & if I just took the antidepressants I'd be fine

@KatyMac so many people having issues with GPs recently, it doesn't fill you with much confidence does it?

I've got myself in a right state about my ECG! I've had to take diazepam to calm me down. I should never have looked at the chart and just waited until GP calls tomorrow 😭

This is interesting. I used to be on levothyroxine for borderline hypothyroidism, but a few years ago my GP said that it was up to be whether to continue as, it really was right on the border. So I stopped as I hadn't been sleeping well and thought it was down to the meds.

Then, a few months ago, as part of a research project, I had a cholesterol test, which was found to be high. So I contacted my GP, hoping to get statins, as strokes run in my family. But the GP (a different one) blamed the thyroid issue for the raised cholesterol, put me back on the meds and refused statins.

I was really confused and unsure about her decision making, but posts on here have helped explain it

Hi I was just looking for a bit of reassurance if possible please due to an abnormal ecg that shows possible ischemia.. I called my dr for reassurance he just said keep your appointment for next week to discuss ecg and bloods.. Has anyone else had this comment and things have been okay? X

abouttoturn50 · 11/08/2024 11:58

@KT3258 I had that too, the doctor told me to pay no attention to what the machine has read as it uses AI to interpret the readings. Not the AI we use now but a program made 25+ years ago! If it was something urgent they would have seen you straight away too. Once my doctor had physically looked, measured etc he said it was a false reading and everything was normal 😊

Thank you so much for your reply xx
