Daughters toe nail

Hi! I put a post up about a month ago explaining my daughter’s big toe nails and how they look like they’re ingrown but have no puss etc. they still don’t have any of that but they are still raised and red and hurt to touch.
Weve used the medicated cream they’ve given and are currently giving her antibiotics but they isn’t helping the nail grow out at all!
I have made another appointment with the dr and have asked for a referral to a podiatrist but the earliest urgent care appointment they could give was Friday.
Im guessing on Friday we will only be spoken to and will have to wait longer for a referral (I did mention in the past message that unfortunately due to my financial situation we cannot afford private. I’d kindly ask that no unkind comments are made about how I’m not a good mum if I can’t afford private etc like has been expressed in the past to me, as that actually hurts and believe me if I had the money I would do it in a heart beat, but I do not have the best part of £300 to pay for the surgery).
Because of her toes she now cannot wear shoes, which is preventing her from going to her dance classes and obviously wellies aren’t always suitable.
I am not sure where to go from here, is there a really long wait for the help from a podiatrist? What else can I do to help?
she needs new shoes also but is struggling to find any at the moment due to the pain, so that’s why she’s living in wellies at the moment.
I feel like such a useless parent, and so helpless. It’s awful seeing her unhappy with her shoes and being uncomfortable.

That sounds really hard, sending sympathy. I don’t have any experience of what you’re going through but hopefully someone will.

i hear what you say about going private. Could you afford an appointment rather than the operation? An appointment is about £60 local to me (though I don’t know the rates for you locally, obviously.) You could get advice and some interim ideas about ways to make her more comfortable? There is absolutely no judgement from me if you can’t afford to go private. That must be really difficult.

Alternatively, you could ask at the appointment on Friday for some treatment ideas to make your DD more comfortable while you wait for the referral. It’s so hard to feel powerless when it comes to our children. It’s awful that you have to wait to Friday if she’s still in so much pain and can’t wear usual shoes or do her usual activities. Does your GP offer same day urgent appointments? That might be worth exploring. I hope things get resolved for her very soon.

Our GPs practice has a podiatrist unit .. have you enquired?
Sometimes specialist GPs can also remove them..
A private podiatrist is anything from £100 to £300.
Just watched two nurses on GPs behind close doors remove one .
See what your GP is able to offer?

Could you get a credit card to put the cost of private on it @Muddledmotherhood?
