Should I ask for a 2nd opinion ?

I saw this Consultant once before, in 2019.
At that time I had a history of Peroneal nerve entrapment, both at spinal level & at foot level. I'd had 3 surgeries over the last 5 years on my feet, none on spine.
Surgeon suggested Brostrum procedure (to tighten ankles) I was unconvinced, as my ankles themselves were fine - pain in feet mostly. Then Covid hit. I have been trying to get an appointment with him since 2022. I saw him yesterday.

He barely looked around from his screen in the 8 mins I was in the room.
He didn't ask my symptoms or what meds I am on. I had to push quite hard for him to look at my feet at all- then it was just one. He wiggled my ankle a bit & said it was not loose enough for Brostrum to be necc (looser than 5 yrs ago tho!)
He refused to look at Xrays done in a different NHS area (whilst I was on hols).
In short, he was totally disinterested. I am 55, on double crutches & a Carer.
He said 'to expect such things as you age' & was more interested in showing me his new program on his PC that showed my spine in 3D 'look at my new party trick, I only learned how to do this 2 weeks ago'. I said that it was from my records in 2017 so not necessarily relevant for today- he actually pouted ...

He did agree to a fresh MRI. He said that he will 'go from there' - this is sensible.
But his suggestion is that it is a signficant S1 nerve impingement. For this he suggests physio (how will that stop a bone impinging a nerve?) or 'more orthotics'. I've had NHS orthotics (flat feet) for years but these alter the way I stand which affects pelvis & spine & become so painful I cannot stand. He also suggested I 'get a sports support off Amazon'. He refuses to address my feet.

Obviously I wait for the MRI & his opinion. But then, can I ask for 2nd opinion?
I am in Scotland. I do not want to be on crutches for ever & the pain is worse...

Definitely ask for a second opinion. Take charge of your health because you are the one having to feel and cope with the pain i would request a second opinion and a different consultant to have a look i feel that you are being taken for a ride there, your feelings and concerns are not listened to so yeah i would ask for a second opinion. at the same time you should be feel satisfied and valued as a patient and on this occassion the consultant not looking at your feet and checking the differences or generally show interest is shocking. sorry you had to go through this, but definately have a second opinion.

@mimi254 thank you for your response. Two days later & I do still feel that it was a poor Consultation (after 5 years) & The Plan is basically to leave me to it.
