Had mild cold symptoms with hiccups started on Sun. Temperature is now back to normal, but hiccups still non-stop.
Tried water, breathing technic etc, nothing helps.
What can this be and how to stop it?

It can be a sign of some other disease if it goes on for days. I'd see the doctor unless it clears up very soon, or if it occurs again.

I think you need to see your GP. There are various medical conditions which can cause prolonged hiccups, so you should probably get it checked out.

Have you drunk a glass of water whilst blocking off your ears? Use a straw and take long, gulpy sips and just keep going til it is all gone.

Thank you. Sorry for drip-feeding - GP doesn't offer any appointments for the next two weeks, receptionist told me it's not an emergency. I understand it's not, but it's really bad still.
What kind of conditions can cause this?

Some years ago, I had hiccups for about 4 days. Tried all the folk-medicine tips, nothing worked. What worked, finally, was this...

... I would hold my breath for as long as possible, until I was turning blue. Then breathe (and hiccup), and then hold my breath again. After about 5 minutes of this the intervals between hiccups were becoming longer, and after about half an hour they stoped altogether.

I gather the hiccups are an involuntary spasm of the diaphragm, or something. The idea is to interrupt the process. Good luck.

You need to speak to the GP if it's still going on.

Don't Henry VIII die from hiccups? You need to get checked out

Can be a sign of high urea or irritation of the diaphragm. You need to go to A/E if you cannot get a GP appointment. Haloperidol is a med used to help with it, pretty sure it’s given IV for this. Possibly need investigations to find out why.
