Broken tooth fell out - any options?

HI. I had a tooth that was heavily filled, eventually the back of it broke off, leaving a little jagged edge at the top and just the front part of the tooth there. It was like that for about a year, but the front came out last night while I was eating a bowl of Weetabix (wondered what that hard crunch was!). There is even less of a jagged edge in the front part so I doubt a crown would be an option and there is a gap there now. I have a new dentist who's answer to everything is just take the tooth out, so was wondering if there may be any alternatives? It is the 4th tooth along from my front teeth, so is just visible when I smile. I am in the process of having an implant for one of my front teeth, and don't really want to shell out again for this one so would just have a false one there for now but do you think a bridge might be an option? Or a crown with a post - anyone had that? I would rather not have a denture but that may be the only option for now. Just wondered if anyone has had a similar experience? In relation to a bridge, the tooth next to the one that has come out is also filled but I am not sure that stops me from getting a bridge? Thanks for any advice.

An implant might be the best option, but get a couple of opinions. I had a tooth taken out that should have been crowned (so every dentist since has told me) it broke in a similar way to yours. The gap then caused all my other teeth to move, and I needed braces, so keeping a tooth there if at all possible is really crucial. Worst case you would need the tooth out and a bridge - you can get “sticky bridges” that don’t need the adjacent teeth to be crowned. Hopefully you will able to either get the tooth crowned , or an implant.

Thanks @CharlesChickens. I will try another dentist as I just know this one will tell me to simply have the tooth out. I just had a check up last week and probably should have asked about getting a crown, as a colleague at work has just got one for the same thing. I feel it is too late for that now, due to the front breaking off now too. I know the Maryland bridge is the sticky one, but don't think that's an option for me due to a filling in the neighbouring tooth. I appreciate your response :-).
