Persistent verruca

I’ve had loads of treatment from podiatrists: Verrutop topical treatment; microwave treatment; salicylic acid, yet the bugger lives on. (On the ball of my foot.)

What next? Any point in seeing my GP? I don’t want to chuck yet more money at it with no expectation of success!

Any ideas?

I had one of these years back and the only thing that worked was leaving a Compead plaster on for weeks and changing it when it began to come off. I think I did 2 or 3 months without a break and finally the bugger went after 3 years! It's about cutting off any air supply. Good luck!

I had a cluster of them on the ball of my foot for years. Had a podiatrist file them down and then I put tape over them religiously for a couple of weeks. Changed it day and night and after washing, it seemed to starve them if oxygen and they cleared up completely.

My sister got rid of a persistent verruca by painting dark nail polish on it and topping up every few days. It fell off after two weeks having lingered for two years previously and being resistant to all other treatments.

Starving of oxygen seems to be the answer! Thanks folks.

The scholl gel worked wonders for me. Same as above - it starves it of oxygen.

Only thing that worked for me was ramping my vitamin intake right up

Communionmom · 06/02/2024 21:45

my podiatrist has a SWIFT machine. 2 treatments and mine was gone. It was on the ball of my foot and really hurt.

Needtobestrongxx · 06/02/2024 21:54

Apple cider vinegar is your best friend here!! Pop some on a bit of cotton wool off the end of a q tip/cotton bud, then tape over the verrucca.

don’t ask me the science behind it but mine/my daughters both turned into black scabs and fell out leaving a hole after about 3 weeks. Absolutely fascinating process!! Google it to see if you’re not grossed out!

End Warts - from the chemist - really worked for me and DS.

ScaredSceptic · 06/02/2024 23:57

As a PP said, apple cider vinegar. Just be careful to use only a small piece of cotton picked from a q tip, and place it so it's in contact with the verruca but not with surrounding healthy skin, as it can burn.

It works a treat.

We used nail varnish and gaffer tape. Cover with nail varnish, let it dry, then gaffer take-over it. Worked where paid treatments didn't.

I had a verruca on the heel of my foot for 18 years - maybe longer. Tried everything. Then I had a podiatrist laser it for £125 - two treatments - and it disappeared! That was the only thing that worked for me.

Corn plasters. Like varucca plasters but on steroids. I’d basically change the corn plaster every time I had a shower, then once a week soak my foot and file/scalple off any thing that would come off (which was quite a lot). It might bleed at this point so I would wear a normal plaster for a day. Then I would repeat this process - took about three weeks. I’d sometimes put a blister plaster on if it was beginning to feel a bit sore.

It was a bit brutal but I’d tried, bazucca, freezing kits, nail varnish, varucca plasters, had podiatrists appointments to tackle it, thunja, footner exfoliating socks. I really needed something stronger than any of the above. The corn plasters seemed to soften/kill a big circle of skin, that then could easily be removed - it was very satisfying! It was pretty cheap too. I’d had my varuccas for about 7 years.
