I'll have a blood test after Easter to check my thyroid. It's really getting to me. I have UC and I had a mastectomy last year. My health is pretty crap at the mo. I'm in my early 40s and I'm getting pretty gloomy about this. Also being treated for depression.

come on my diet with me.

seriously, yes! have your blood checked, iron levels, and get them to check your Thyroid too

Sorry to hear about your mastectomy BladeBla. Not nice. I do hope you are OK, but it sounds like NOT. take a hug m'dear!

Hopefully they will check you for infection too, I had glandular fever and practically my only sign was overwhelming tiredness.

It may just be your body is tired, though treating it well, making sure you are eating plenty of fresh fruit and veg, pampering yourself, and getting out into what sunshine we have even if it means wrapping up like nanook of the north may well all help too. Have you thought about taking a good multi vit and possibly something with ginsing in it? I found that seemed to help me but then we are all different.

a bit of exercise really helped me with energy levels - seemed to give me a boost. and helps with sleep quality too, so you feel more rested in the morning.

Did you have chemo after your mastectomy?

My SIL had chemo as she had non-John-Hodgkins and it took her over 1 1/2 years to fully recover. She was always tired.

She also suffers from depression.

No chemo or radiotherapy. I came out of hospital afterwards and within a week I was back in with colitis. I know that colitis can make you tired, but I don't have any other symptoms of that. My arm is aching where I had the operation. It could be lymphodoema (Hope not..). I eat pretty well most of the time and I take vit B complex and folic acid and evening primrose oil.

I have a blood test due for kidney function (drugs for colitis). I long to take a bit more exercise. I am so flattened and I really don't have the energy to get far.

What's your diet, Wolfgirl?

Iron was my first thought, made me incredibly tierd when my levels were low.
If your bloods are ok then just eat well and get plenty of rest, your body will still be in recovery x

Kaz1967 · 21/03/2008 20:23

As your body has been through so much it is probably just out of Ommf and needs time to recuperate. Hardly surprising with what you have been through over the last year.

Even very gentle exercise (5 -10 min gentle walk) getting out an getting some sunshine can help boost you.

Be good to your self over this week end make sure people around you pamper you too.

Kindereggsurpise · 21/03/2008 20:35

It does sound like your body is just a bit exhausted, and no wonder.

I agree with the others, get your blood checked, so that you can rule out iron deficiency etc.

My SIL found that she just had to give in to the lethargy, fighting it, trying to soldier on just made her worse.

She had a lie down every afternoon and went to bed early.

She now has much more energy and her depression has lifted too.

She goes walking every day with MIL

Kindereggsurpise Totally agree that sometimes when you are that low pushing makes you worse I did that with glandular fever very very big mistake. I have sort of learnt to listen to my bogy most of the time now although sometimes I ignore it and regret it afterwards

whiteflame · 22/03/2008 08:32

Are you drinking enough water? I know this probably sounds a bit daft, but it helped raise my energy levels no end when I started drinking more water. Might help anyway....

BlaDeBla · 22/03/2008 09:56

I do drink a lot of water! I hope it's just being ground down. I am also having terrible problems with my parents - trying to come to terms with a mad abusive father, and a mother who is succumbing to Alzeimers. I am very very sad and angry. It's horrible and makes me feel absolutely dreadful.

Depression and stress will make you very tired. With everything you are going through it is no wonder you are tired.
((hug)).
