Dd (6) has rash only on cheeks, and is otherwise well. Slapped cheek syndrome?

First sign of this was yesterday when her cheeks were looking red. Now she's woken up this morning and it's much worse. She hasn't been ill and is feeling completely well - no temp or anything.
Is it possible to get slapped cheek with no other symptoms?
Does she need to see a doctor - bearing in mind it is Good Friday so will have to be out of hours clinic.
As far as i'm aware she hasn't eaten anything different and we haven't used any new products to bring on an allergic reaction.
Happy Easter to you all

im almost certain its slapped cheek, my dcs had it and where well in themselves apart from the red cheeks, and a few days later they developed a lacy rash on their arms aswell, u will find that she will look redder after having a bath or getting upset/excited. HTH

DD2 had slapped cheek syndrome last year. I took her to the doctors, as at first I thought it was an allergic reaction to something. Her face was a bit swollen, with a red rash, but she had no other symptoms at all, and it just faded after a couple of days.

Thanks for that. I don't think i'll bother with the doctor unless she starts feeling unwell. Is it really contagious? Is my ds likely to get it as well?

Look at pics of slapped cheek on this site . Google Dermnetnz . then search for slapped cheek .

Harmless condition for the child .
Only problem is foer pregnant women . MUST aVOID them if it really is Parvovirus B19 .

yep CP fraid so, my ds got it first then passed it to dd, and to echo SBM its imperative that u keep your dd away from pregnant ladies

There have been a few kids in my DDs nursery who have got this recently.

When DD1 had it, DD2 didn't get it.

I believe it's not infectious once rash appears so no point your dd avoiding pg women now (but tell any you have been in contact with) - although I suppose you should still avoid them as your ds may still be in the infectious stage (which iirc can be long - more than 3 weeks potentially).

Definitely tell any pg women you've had contact with as they'll need a blood test. Don't tell them tonight though as there's nothing they can do before Tuesday except worry, and if they google then they will worry.
