27F with hashimoto disease and ovarian cysts.

Hello! I recently got referred to see an endocrinologist after discovering I have Hashimoto disease (with symptoms such as weight gain and fatigue). I also have ovarian cysts so my doctor has me do a blood test to check my hormones.

I tested on day 3 of my cycle and my FSH levels are 3,0mUI/mL and my LH levels are 5.2UI/L.
Prolactine is 29,5 ng/mL which seems on the high side.

I would like to have a baby soon also. Can anyone help me understand these test results please?

thank you so much!

Speak to your endocrinologist about the prolactin. Your other results look to be in range.

High prolactin may stop you ovulating because it inhibits the production of FSH. Get your day 21 bloods done to confirm ovulation.

Thank you so much! Are the FSH levels are in range? I did the test on day 3 of the cycle and according to the reference, the minimum should be 3,5.

It can depend on the range you’re looking at. Wait for the day 21 results and then you’ll have a better idea of what’s going on.

Do you track ovulation? The day 21 bloods are taken 7 days after ovulation, whenever that is in your cycle so that might not actually be day 21. They only call it that because in the average cycle ovulation happens on day 14 but that’s not the case for lots of women.

Thank you so much for your reply. I try to track ovulation but my cycles vary form 21 - 50 days so it’s really hard. I will discuss all this in my appointment in 2 weeks. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to me ❤️

No problem. Chances are you may not be ovulating with very irregular cycles or at least some of them may be anovulatory. This can also be down to the PCOS if you have it.

It’s great that you have a referral and have some information going into the appointment which will give them a clearer picture of what you need to help you get pregnant. Good luck!
