my 16 month old dd has been puking between 3-7pm this afternoon. She hasn't puked since about 7 and has managed to keep down about half a cup of water since then. She's breastfed, but milk seems to come straight back up so I've stopped trying. She's now gone to sleep. Do you think it's okay to leave her until she wakes naturally to offer more fluids? She she's not showing any signs of dehydration now. Advice appreciated!

Almost forgot and am now a bit paranoid about this. She also has a very small rash on her cheek (about the size of a 50p piece or a bit smaller) of small red spots, that didn't seem to fade much under a glass. She seems really well in herself though. Am having paranoia about meningitis but nothing else seems to match. Any ideas?

I'd keep an eye on her for an hour or two and not wake her for a feed.
My meningitis card says danger symptomsare high pitched moaning, not wanting to be handles, blnak staring expressino, arched neck, dislike of bright lights.

Thanks. Just went in to check on her in my paranoia and she woke up slightly, had a tiny puke and then went back to sleep . Couldn't see the rash at all though...

Keep an eye eh?

no, she won't be dehydrated so quickly. With a really irritable tum, give teaspoons of water - one teaspoon every seven minutes.

Sure she'll be fine, put her by your bed or put a camp bed by her cot, then you'll be able to check on her during the night just by opening one eye!

thanks all. she survived the night, needless to say! put her in my bed in the end. she took some water and a little breastmilk a few times when she woke up. this am she has a low fever and diarrhoea but no more voming. just a standard bug i guess. all she wants to do is bf, tho, so i'm obliging. anyone know if this is a bad plan with the trots?

breastfeeding is abolutely the best thing in these circumstances, easily digestable, full of vital minerals and nutrients and of course a fluid.

thanks! just as well, she's been at it all day
