I had some results from some private investigations linked to my chest...

Today in a phone consultation - i was told / advised - not to use ' sure ' deodorant - and recommended a natural deodrant with no chemicals

They praised me on taking lotsa vit d daily

And liked that i wear fabric bras with no wiring...

My mum and many friends use deodrant with ' chemicals ' ..

Just wondering how common people using natural deodrant is

There really is no evidence of any harm from aluminium containing deodorants, it makes me wonder about the qualifications of who ever told you not to use them.

Trufflenose · 29/01/2024 22:37

I use AKT deoderant. It's amazing and works better than a normal deoderant. The downside is that its expensive but as a breast cancer survivor I'm prioritising my health. For years they said that there is no cancer risk with artificial sweeteners and now there is clear evidence. I'm not going to wait until there's a proven link to avoid something that could be carcinogenic.

Salt of the Earth

ObliviousCoalmine · 29/01/2024 22:41

Thermography has been widely discredited by medical professionals and the FDA.

As an aside, I use Nuud (the absolute bees knees) and Wild sensitive. Neither have bicarb, both perform better than 'normal' deodorants.

CrunchyCarrot · 29/01/2024 22:45

I use Nuud after years on Sure. I like it, does the job.

It doesn't sound like you're getting reputable medical advice from these people OP. Change your deodorant, who cares, but be very wary of taking more serious advice or giving them more money.

Iheartmysmart · 29/01/2024 22:48

I’ve been slowly moving on to more natural products as my existing stuff has been running out and really like the Salt of the Earth stick deodorant.

Bennyontheloose · 29/01/2024 22:51

Tbh they sound like quacks. Around 50% of premenopausal women have Fibrocystic breasts even if they don't realise it. Thermal imaging isn't reliable without a mammogram.

Workawayxx · 29/01/2024 22:52

I use natural deodorant. My favourite is this (any of that brand in the “active” type).

the one thing I found was it took a couple of months of perseverance after quitting anti perspirant for my body to settle down and be less sweaty. So I did apply a few times a day and/ or wash a lot during that time but if you can soldier through it’s worth it. I’m much less sweaty even with no deo at all now.

What country are you in?

alexdgr8 · 29/01/2024 23:09

you can get a simple and cheap deodorant (not anti-perspirant) in Lidl: cyan blue top, roll-on, under £1; and probably similar in other supermarkets too.
try that first. no need to waste money on fancy ones.

Wizzywoo18 · 29/01/2024 23:15

I use Lavera roll-on deodorants - easily found on Amazon or in health shops. Very effective.
(I tried Neals Yard deodorant once - it was useless and sadly pricey!)

SportMum1982 · 29/01/2024 23:18

Are these Functional Medicine doctors OP?

RedLorryHelloLorry · 29/01/2024 23:22

Tried natural deodorant during lockdown and I stank 24/7. There was no "adjustment period" where I started to smell normal. I'm a very sweaty person and have to wear Mitcham.

I think my smell is related to food I eat and not processing certain foods well. I did the AIP diet for a bit and stopped smelling.

If you're a smelly person beware of natural deodorant!

DumpedByText · 29/01/2024 23:48

I use Fussy and love it. Your body takes a while to get rid of the chemicals in your original deodorant, so you might whiff for a few weeks. You need to persevere though.

I tried Wild and smelt like fried onions!

I switched years ago and much prefer it. I use the natural deodorant co. Orange is my favourite one.

Neversaygoodbye · 31/01/2024 19:18

I would also recommend Fussy. Tried Wild and it just went very gloopy and the container becomes a complete mess. Fussy is much better.
