Wisdom tooth recovery

Had 2 wisdom teeth(1 impacted)and one broken molar extracted last Wednesday, was feeling good for the 2 days after, then Saturday was my worst day, not excruciating but throbbing, stingy pain around jaw and socket, woke up this morning thinking all good and now pain is back again 😭 I'm due back to work tomorrow and I'm so anxious this is going to take another while!
Anyone have similar stories of recovery from this 😔 shitting over dry socket aswel, non stop worry not helping

I had a wisdom tooth out last Tuesday, but it seems fine now, although still slightly swollen. It doesn’t sound like yours is healing properly? You might have got a bit of food stuck in it & it’s got infected. Have you been rinsing with salt water? I sympathise as I’ve been worried about mine not healing properly.

I remember being told to do salt water mouth rinses after mine, about 30 years ago, I think that helped.

I had a wisdom tooth out ten days ago and got dry socket with symptoms starting after about 4 days. The dentist packed it with a medicated dressing and oh my god the almost instant relief! Apparently dry socket heals over time so the dressing is to alleviate the symptoms whilst this happens. I would make a dentist appointment if I were you, no need to suffer unnecessarily.

I got antibiotics off the surgeon who took the 3 teeth out as a precaution, and have been doing salt rinses, when I read up in dry socket it seems the pain is unbearable? Could it still be that? Mine is just about manageable with ibuprofen and paracetamol,
And the pain comes and goes,

Mine was quite sore for a good week after. Paramol (in the black box) from the pharmacy is what you need here (alongside warm salty water). Hope you feel better soon Flowers

That's what I read too so assumed it was an infection instead. Mine is apparently a little bit of a dry socket so maybe why it's not agony, it was controllable with ibuprofen. The most annoying symptom is a weird cold sensation along my jaw that comes and goes. I think dry socket tends to start a few days after extraction, all was going great initially.

Never heard of that, I presume would be the same name in pharmacies in Ireland?
Will get those tomorrow,
So strange I was feeling much better this morning and thought I was out the other end, it's really up and down, glad you got better x

Oh really! Should I still go in to the dentist ifs only a small one?
Christ I just want all this done with, thank god that's the end of the wosdom teeth for me.
Was it just the one you got out?

I had dry socket no amount of painkillers took the edge off I was climbing the walls in pain. I would suggest go back to dentist tomorrow if you can for them to check and repack the tooth etc.

If it's really bothering you I would, I left it 2 days to see if it would get better and it didn't. Yes just one, it wasn't even essential but it was growing sideways and kept cutting up my cheek so I decided to have it out and now I'm in even more pain than I was before! It is a right hassle and worry isn't it.

solomonsfish85 · 28/01/2024 22:57

I was the same, had no real issue with them. My upper one was hitting off my gum aswel but not badly,
Just want to be back to normal,
Ya I think I'll see what way the pain is tomorrow and go from there, think its the worry that makes it all worse being honest

The dentist will want to see you, get back in there as soon as you can. Keep up the salt water rinses and get some painkillers with codeine. In England I'd recommend nurofen plus, not sure if available where you are?
