Hormone imbalance?

Hi,

I have for the last few months been suffering from some symptoms, which I will list below, and I'm wondering if anyone has experienced similar or knows what could be going on.
I have spoken to GP who are no help and have just told me to come off my contraception which hasn't helped.
I have done some research which seems to lead to either hormonal imbalance, thyroid problems, PMS or menopause.
For reference I am 29 with 2 young children.

-itchy skin
-hair loss/breakage/dry
-insomnia
-fatigue
-no energy
-weight gain
-irregular periods (bleeding for 2 weeks at a time)
-irritable/angry/stressed
-clumsiness/brain fog
-constipation

TIA

Hi, did you get to the bottom of this at all I have exactly the same symptoms as you. I am 28 and also have two young children aged two and six months. For my research as well I’ve also come to the conclusion it’s either hormones, vitamin deficiencies or thyroid.
Awaiting an appointment with the GP, but unfortunately it’s not for another four weeks which I’ll just have to soldier through till then but the brain fog and fatigue is absolutely killing me I’m so exhausted all the time. I also have really deep aches in all of my bones and joints.

Sorry for the long-winded message, but just wanted to say I feel like I’m in a similar boat to symptoms as yours. Did you get any answers in the end? Hope things are better for you.

@Torinunn2022 that seems like. Long wait...can't you call up in the morning and get a same day appointment?

Torinunn2022 · 06/04/2024 14:23

@ConfrontationDoesntHaveToBeScarey I think I’ll ring up Monday and really stress how much it’s affecting me now as it’s definitely worsened in recent days. Hopefully should get a same day apt based on this

Hi, @Torinunn2022
did you ever get to the bottom of this? I am 32 with 2 children and experiencing same symptoms.

Torinunn2022 · 05/07/2024 13:15

@StarInTheSky2 hey! How long postpartum are you?
tbh most of my symptoms have resolved. I ended up paying privately to have some bloods done and by b12 and folate were low. My thyroid was also out of whack and I was diagnosed with postpartum thyroiditis but that resolved itself without the need for medication.

Thanks for your reply 😊

My youngest is 2.5.

I had a blood test and my folic acid is slightly low, perhaps this is the issue? But can it cause these many problems?

Do you know how low your folic acid was?

Torinunn2022 · 05/07/2024 18:46

@StarInTheSky2 my folic acid was 3 which is deficient but not dramatically. But from research and other people’s experiences this can make you feel horrid. So I did start taking a folic acid supplement and went and got myself a b12 shot

StarInTheSky2 · 05/07/2024 18:49

@Torinunn2022

My folic acid is 2.7. Did you take any specific supplements and how long did it take for you to feel better?

Didn't realise being deficient in a vitamin can make me feel like I'm dying.

Torinunn2022 · 05/07/2024 18:58

@StarInTheSky2 gosh I think a folate of 2.7 absolutely can make you feel horrendous. Have a look up folate deficiency symptoms. With a folate of that level your GP should really be prescribing 5mg folic acid ; you can buy it but at a much lesser dose, like what you take when pregnant.
but absolutely vitamin deficiencies can make you feel like death. Good luck!
