I've noticed this on my breast for the past 4/5 days. But it could have been there longer, I'm not sure. Not sore, haven't burned it, haven't caught it on anything (I don't think!). Any ideas what it could be? Breast feeding stopped 4 months ago if that's any relevance.

It's inflamed, possibly infected. Very difficult to tell from the picture. How big is it? I would get it checked out if it has been getting worse over those 4/5 days.

Username1233 · 28/01/2024 19:33

@HesterLee hey! the lesion itself is around the size of a 5 pence coin. It almost looks like a burn - but I feel like I would absolutely remember doing it!

You should get it checked

Princesspollyyy · 28/01/2024 19:34

I think you should go to the doctor, if you're not aware of burning it or catching it on anything. Nobody here will be able to tell you what it is.

Hope it's nothing serious x

Thanks ladies. I just hate wasting a GP's time 🫣. Was hoping someone might have experienced similar on here before I reach out to my surgery x

It's not wasting their time, this is literally the purpose of their job!

Astridspuzzle · 28/01/2024 19:45

You're not wasting their time. I've gone twice with breast issues. Always best to get things checked out.

FrancisSeaton · 28/01/2024 19:52

Looks almost like a friction burn/insect bite that has started healing. Do you have eczema ? I get patches like this

Username1233 · 28/01/2024 19:55

@FrancisSeaton I don't think it could be friction but maybe? Insect bite quite possibly! I've had a look and can't see anything else on my body. In terms of eczema I've never suffered with any skin problem (yet!). X

The concern isn’t that it’s a burn, or a bite, or eczema. The concern is that it’s inflammatory breast cancer. The chances are that it’s not. But it could be. And that is why you need to see your GP tomorrow.

Princesspollyyy · 28/01/2024 21:10

Oh dear, you're not one of those that thinks you need to be on the brink of death before seeing a GP do you? What on earth do you think they are there for?!

It's a completely normal thing to go to the GP. Asking non medically qualified strangers rather than going your GP is a bit silly, no disrespect.

BrutusMcDogface · 28/01/2024 21:12

Definitely get it checked out, especially as you don’t remember hurting it.

Username1233 · 29/01/2024 20:25

Thanks ladies. Done an online request to see my GP today, they asked for a photo which I sent. They have just texted back to say that antibiotic cream has been sent to my pharmacy. Would have been nice to have been able to speak to someone but I suppose it shows no cause for concern!

Well that's reassuring. If it doesn't go away though, go back to them.
