What is it? Do I need to ring 111?

I've been ill with some kind of cold or virus for about three weeks. Went to the GP who gav antibiotics for lower respiratory infection. I thought I was turning a corner until this morning. I've got the worst st sore throat ever and I feel like theres a painful lump in the bottom of my throat (right where you feel your swallow of that makes sense) Feel so tender and sore. My ears feel all muffled and still got a horrible cough with green phlegm. My tonsils and th oat look fine. Alas I've been googling and convinced I have an abscess or something and it will Burst. Or is this just usual? No fever or excruciating pain anywhere else. Just feel about crap and losing my voice.

Could be an ulcer but it just sounds like the infection doing the rounds. Keep drinking plenty of fluids, take some painkillers and see how you go

Anyone else have any advice?

Tonsillitis? Sounds like that to me

The abscess thing you’re thinking of is called quinsy. Do keep an eye on things because quinsy can be dangerous. NHS has a checklist for when to get emergency help for that too.
You could absolutely call 111 for reassurance as to whether this is something it’s ok to watch and wait or whether you need to be seen more quickly.

Laryngitis

Find out about laryngitis, which is when your voice box becomes irritated or swollen. Symptoms of laryngitis usually come on suddenly and get worse during the first 3 days.

It sounds like you need another antibiotic to shift it. I’d definitely phone

You can probably see your larynx from the outside if you want to try to work out where the pain is. - The larynx is your voice box. On men they often stick out and we call it an Adam’s apple.
If it’s your vocal cords that are inflamed it will probably hurt more when you say ´aaaaa’ and not at all to say ´shhhhh’.

I did think about quinsy, my sister had it quite severely a while ago. But it's not on my tonsils or where I can see it. On first glance my tonsils and throat look okay (that I can see). There is some yellow patches but I do get tonsil stones. The pain feels like a lump where th Adams apple would be if I had one. It fo sn't hurt to talk only to swallow and my ears have gone all muffled and sore.

It doesn't.hjetbto talk only to swallow and the lump is just there. It's very annoying and uncomfortable.

I am not a dr. You are worried. You have an ongoing respiratory infection that’s being treated but your symptoms are spreading to higher up your respiratory system. What you really want is an actual medical opinion. This is why 111 exists. Give them a call. Depending on where you are in the country they have different services that they can arrange for you. Out of hours gp, or a callback from a dr for example. The whole point is that it’s for non 999 level/obviously emergency things.
