It says it all in the OP really but my Mum keeps banging on about going to the docs and, until now, I didn't feel it necessary. Today though he has hardly eaten at all - again - has had one rancid yellow, mushy poo (sorry if tmi) and this morning, he had vomited in his cot during the night and was covered in it . Is it time to see the quacks or will they just tell me to keep his fluids up and try little and often????

I know how you feel my 2.2yr old didnt eat for a week and only started to eat again today. I think as long as he is taking fluids and you just keep putting food in front of him he will eat when he is ready. Keep an eye out for dehydration.

cruisemum1 · 19/03/2008 22:22

Thanks Nemo....signs of dehydration are dry nappies??? Did your lo have other symptoms? Ds seems happy enough - most of the time - but then seems tired, due to lack of food presumably?

I think this is a bug going around, my dd1 has had it and dd2 I think (without the vomitting SO FAR) and also dh (though I don't know what his poo looks like )
I wouldn't worry unless it goes on much longer and he is dehydrated.

cruisemum1 · 19/03/2008 22:23

harpsichorder - thanks. It does seem to be going on a bit too long though ds does seem to pick himself up inbetween times. But the non-eating thing bothers me

WE have all had it here in various forms.

DD1 was worst affected and basically threw up about 6 times in one day, then didnt eat anything for 6 days while half the time lying lethargically on the couch then the other half she would play but whine at the same time.

DD2 had it with vomitting every day but still ate but was very clingy and lethargic.

DH just had the trots and stomach ache but for 4 days

Ds and I both threw up a few times had some D and felt sick for 2 days but have been fine.

harpsichordcarrier · 19/03/2008 22:30

oh and I think I had a version of it too - total appalling tiredness for about a week
didn't put me off my food though
is he drinking plenty? I really wouldn't worry, he will make it up when he needs to.
my dd1 once didn't eat for eleven days when she came down with chickenpox. I was hugely relieved when the spots came out

Washersaurus · 19/03/2008 22:31

We've had it here too.

DS1 was very lethargic, tired and off food for a week or so, with a high temperature.

DS2 had a temp and a vomiting attack in the middle of the night, and has been off his food and has had a few runny nappies.

I am shattered.....

cruisemum1 · 20/03/2008 15:53

glad I am not alone though sorry for all your lo's . Just worried as it seems to be going on forever (day 6 now). ds has eaten a bit today but his nappies are rancid with yellow, runny poo - graphic I know but just seeking reassurance.

My ds2 has it too. He's 16 months and this is the worst he's ever been.

spiderbabymum · 20/03/2008 16:27

doesnt sound unusual to me and i m a quack .

just keep offering fluids , and bland foods .
eg toast .

your the mum . suggest you act on your instincts ...not your mums .

if no vomiting .....and only diarrhoea ...then continue normal diet .

just been thru the same with my 10 month old . you have my sympathies .

Nemoandthefishes · 20/03/2008 16:28

nappies will be rancid until eating picks up as of course a lot of fluid and tiny bit of food means crappy poops..lol Think of it as a good clear out of the bug!!

cruisemum1 · 20/03/2008 21:20

nemo - you are making me wish I had it! Sure is cheaper than colonic irrigation
Ta for input spiderbabymum - no vomiting today, thank Goodness but still stomach churning nappies.
I guess they regulate their diets better than anyone as they are not stuck with the breakfast/lunch/dinner programming yet.
uberalice - hope your lo recovers soon
