Hi,
How accurate as these? I've called the hospital's (admissions dept) concerned earlier and was nearly floored, I'm waiting 12 months from when I went on a list as semi-urgent.
I was seen at outpatients for a supposed fibroid, they tried to do a hysteroscopy there and then at the appointment but I couldn't bear it. So they got me to sign the forms for having it under GA with a coil fitted as a 'maybe this might help!' they said they would only take the fibroid away it if turns out to be polyp at same time during the hystero, I was told this would be done verbally as 'semi-urgent', post-appointment letter received weeks later hasn't got this written on it at all which did make me kind of suspicious. I don't want the surgery but I don't want to end up not knowing anything either to reach near on 2 years later.
I was told I must have a hysteroscopy largely due BMI risk, family history of early cancers and my periods just didn't sound right (although I can never get them to talk peri-meno like it just doesn't exist)
I am HPV positive, with a yearly smear nearly upon me. They did one scan of the fibroid back early last summer and nothing since so I was a bit confused about how I could go into surgery based on results of months ago and now if it is 12 months, it'll have been 18 months.
I've some questions that are now forming in my mind -
What if I arrive at the hospital months later having shed loads of weight? (I've got to 16 stone 13 now) it was the kick I needed to get back to slimming.
Another year older in my 40's - surely closer to menopause. For every 1 positive story about the coil I read 9 bad ones.
If I have the smear in March and it comes back HPV again, does the process speed up and equally if it comes back clear of HPV could that then mean the hysteroscopy is out of the way?
If I pay for a private scan (did have a quote of £320) and if they find it isn't a fibroid, will I get anyone to listen as it won't be nhs. I have also paid 6 months plus to Beneden but I understand private won't operate on big people due to the risk of there being no intensive care if things go wrong with the anesthetic.
I haven't bothered a GP until I was pee'ing blood in urine couple of months ago when not on a period, I just don't know what to do. Can I insist the bowel and bladder be checked?
They did say about a cancellation if that happens . . . I can understand this for appointments but surely any surgery would have to be like for like.
