Thyroid function test levels

Hi, all.

Can anyone please comment on these levels? I saw my GP in October because I was feeling tired and brain foggy. She ordered blood tests with these results.

4.39 mU/L Serum TSH
7.9 pmol/L Serum free T4

She prescribed 25 microgram Levo daily.

6 weeks later my results were these.

2.35 mU/L Serum TSH
9.2 pmol/L Serum free T4

She told me all was now well and said to stay on the 25 dose.

I've not researched what these things mean, but I've not really felt any different and so it caught my eye when on another thread this evening I spotted somebody saying that they feel sluggish if their TSH is over 1.

I think I'll have to try to learn how to understand what these things mean, but in the meantime can anyone offer any insight into whether my TSH looks too high (and/or whether my T4 level isn't right)?

Thanks for any help.

T4 levels can range anywhere between 7.9 and 14.4 pmol

TSH between 0.38 and 5.33 mU/L

Your new results are about right.

If you are still feeling sluggish go back to the Dr it may be a vitamin deficiency such as lack of b12

Thanks @Wolfpa.

She said my B12 was okay but that I could try taking a supplement to see whether it made a difference. It hasn't, though. After the first visit she said to take Vit D, which I'm now doing, and at the second visit she said that level was now in normal range.

I've also started on low dose HRT (2 pumps).

I did ask if she could think of a reason I was still feeling sluggish and brain foggy at my second visit, but she couldn't come up with anything so it doesn't sound as though there's any further help available there. I just wonder now whether my body would work better with a lower TSH, like the poster on a different thread. I know these things are complicated and that we're all slightly different.

My levels are around what yours are now- I was concerned about the low T4 (I am not medicated or diagnosed as hypothyroid as I've never had a TSH over 2.2 or a T4 above 10.2 ) doctor says they are fine.
