Please can someone tell me what this rash is. I've noticed this a few times in the last two weeks. The skin feels different. Not itchy. I'm 46. No changes in diet, lifestyle, cleaning products etc. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Heat rash? Does it fade over the day? Could be linked to peri menopause. Do you get hot flushes?

LucyLatimer · 21/01/2024 11:01

I’ve had the same, dr prescribed anti histamine but it’s not doing much. 50 and on hrt, so not thought of hot flush. Interested to see what works for you, sore isn’t it

Littleredcorvettepurplerain · 21/01/2024 11:06

Did you go in the sun yesterday? Peri/meno can cause something called polymorphic light eruption where you become sensitive to the sun!!

KnackeredBack · 21/01/2024 11:10

I would get it checked at a drs just in case. If it's something like shingles, you need antivirals.

TuxedoChimp · 21/01/2024 11:10

I've had rashes on my neck that look like that but they're also itchy. For me it's an allergic reaction.

guildingthelily · 21/01/2024 11:21

No risk of it being sun induced. I'm in Yorkshire 😅 I might take an antihistamine and see what happens. I'm having the odd perimenopause symptom, but not hot flushes at the moment.

Do you feel well in yourself? Any other symptoms,do you take any medicines, do you have any other medical comditions?

Marblessolveeverything · 21/01/2024 11:35

Were you wearing a necklace yesterday, clothes in contact with it?

Looks like an allergic reaction I get to laundry softener, which for some reason only comes up on my neck and one ankle.

PTSDBarbiegirl · 21/01/2024 11:38

Could be allergic reaction to something on your pillow, washing powder, room mist spray, unlit scented candle nearby, necklace, lying in bath, hair conditioner. I've had similar from all the above at various times.

TuxedoChimp · 21/01/2024 12:11

Things that have caused an allergic reaction like that on my neck have been: my shampoo, perfume, moisturiser.

Some of these I had been using for a while with no problems, so either the manufacturer changed the ingredients or I suddenly developed an allergy.

Strangely this happened a lot after I had covid, my body seemed to suddenly start reacting to things I'd been fine with before, like it became hypo-sensitive.

GreatAuntMaude · 21/01/2024 12:14

Looks like a reaction to detergent, shower gel or fabric conditioner to me. You can become allergic to something you have been fine with before. Try switching each element for a fortnight (i.e. switch to a simple shower gel first, but leave washing powder and conditioner the same, then switch out the washing powder etc)?

Thank you. I'm going back to Sanex shower gel from today. It's started to look less red as the day wears on. The weird thing is it started on holiday abroad about 3 weeks ago. 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ Now I'm back to normal life and products. It's the fact it's not every day which is weird. Hmm...will go to docs/pharmacist this week to see what they say.

I'm well in all other areas, as far as I know 😬

Hmm, 🤔 don't think it's that as it disappeared after a few days on holiday. But came back randomly in wet grey Yorkshire 😅 thank you though !
