My dd2 got chicken pox from her sister when she was 5 weeks old. It was very mild and she didn't seem ill with it just a few spots. She was fully breastfed and I am immune so maybe that's why it was mild though dd1 only had it mildly too.

DS got chicken pox when DD was 4 weeks old. She was exclusively breastfed, I was told she was unlikely to get it, as I had it when I was a child.

When she was 6 weeks, she got it. She was fairly spotty but didn't really get too bothered by it (I seem to remember it made her sleepier).

I think the real danger is when babies are born with chicken pox, or get it at under a month. I took DD to the doctor when I realised she had it - he said that if she seemed really unwell that I should seak further advice, but she was fine.

Hi, my ds1 was exclusively breast fed, I'd had chicken pox as a child and he got chicken pox at 7-8 weeks.

He wasn't particularly unwell or spotty, the main problem was I felt we ought to stay confined to the house (he was my pfb!)

Isn't incubation time up to three weeks rather than two?

It may well be that neither of your DCs get it (DS has been exposed countless times without a single spot), and the most likely scenario if they do would be that your DS gets it from his friend and then passes it on to your DD. So taking incubation periods into accoungt it could ba another month to six weeks before she develops chicken pox (if she does at all) by which time she'll be a bit older and stronger.

My 2 had it very young, ds was 11 weeks I was exc breast feeding he had a handful of spots, was pretty miserable with it. I have been told if a child has chicken pox under the age of one they could run the risk of catching it again in later life.
