Hi,

I'm new to the mumsnet and wonder if anyone can offer any advice?

My son is 18 weeks old and I took him to the GP last Friday as his poos have gone from Korma yellow to Green and mucusy (he is exclusively bf). Gp said it was just a virus and it should clear up, asked me to take a sample but the little monkey wont do one when I'm stood there with the collection tube ;o)

Wondered if he could be teething, I can see his teeth in his gums but not breaking through, but he is dribbling for england.

Tries o give him baby paracetamol from a syringe he spat it out!

Thinking of taking him back to GP tomorrow.

Hi thompoc,

Have no real advice (dds are now 8 and 9) except to say we saw every colour of the rainbow in dds poo while they were in nappies, including one (while they were at nursery) that said 'Organic Granny Smith', or something like that! (They'd forgotten to take the label off the apple)

Do you still take him to be weighed weekly? I did with dd1 (it becomes a bit more difficult and you're a bit more savvy with subsequent babies). Maybe you could hang around there and ask, depending of course on what day your baby clinic is.

But it does sound like teething to me.

Someone much better placed to offer words of wisdom will be around later, I'm sure

And welcome to MN!

a virus that can cause a lot of dribbling is hand foot and mouth, a very common childhood virus. Has he got any spots on his hands, bottom or feet, or in his mouth?

Nope no signs of any spots. Had him back to the GP this morning, who gave him a thorough checkover, ears, throat etc but still say its just gastroenteritus. managed to get a sample tody as well so I'll wait fir the results.

He said too early for teething!
