Lightheadedness after an ear infection

Not sure if anyone can help or offer any advice but I started suffering with an ear infection back in October which ended up making me feel very lightheaded/nausea. I saw several GPs in this time and was prescribed ear drops/antibiotics to treat the infection and was given nasal steroids after a GP said my eardrum looked “angry” and was bubbling as well as inflammation.

I have been referred to an audiologist/ENT and I had a hearing test about a month ago which concluded my hearing is absolutely fine and nothing concerning was found there. The audiologist confirmed the ear infection has gone and I should ride it out however I’m still awaiting to hear back from an ENT.

Has anyone else suffered with lightheadedness after an ear infection? How long did it last? Was there anything you did/took to help alleviate the lightheadedness? It’s been 3 & 1/2 months now and it’s somewhat improved but I worry it’ll be like this forever! I had labyrinthitis before which lasted around 2-3 months and I felt perfectly fine after.

Thanks!

I've got labyrinthitis at the moment. I'm taking prochlorperazine which helps as I'm only getting dizzy/light headed when moving as opposed to all the time. Was recommended to ensure I'm well hydrated and eating healthily plus taking a good multivitamin.

It's shit. I hope yours passes soon Flowers

Is your blood pressure fine? The infection /no appetite didn’t cause it to drop?

Is it possible the infection has moved to your sinuses? I can get light headed when my sinuses are messed.

Also, very weirdly, when my sinuses are bad, sometimes my blood pressure drops a lot or will drop very rapidly from lying to standing/sitting to standing. I have no idea why. It hasn't happened much in recent years except occasionally when I'm doing something like having a massage, seeing a chiropractor or doing yoga - I assume all linked to the way in which you're lying down and using your body.
