Periods question

Hi,

Came off the pill around the end of Feb - now on CD 32 and no sign of impending AF. Just wondering what other people's experiences were when they stopped BC. Should I expect a period soon? Or could it be many months? Was on pill for 8 years, and periods were every 28-30 days before I started taking it as far as I can remember.

Any experiences would be really useful.

Thanks

Did you have a bleed at the end of your pill pscket, when you would have normally had a period?

Have you done a pregnancy test?

Sidge · 18/03/2008 21:20

Oops obviously that should say packet.

Hi.

Did you have your normal withdrawal bleed when you stopped taking it?

It could take months for your cycle to get back to normal, but if you are worried, have a chat with your doc.

Hi Sidge,

Yep had pill bleed as normal. 'Pill period' would have fallen on the weekend just gone, but no bleeding at all since withdrawal. Definitely not pregnant - have been paranoid, so doing 'everything but...' until proper period shows up. Then is back to condoms....oh joy! Do you think it could take ages to show up? Heard lots about people being super fertile after the pill, so if I have ovulated and there was no swimmers to do anything about it, why haven't I had a period?

Crossed posts Squonk. Thanks for your advice. Think I will see the doctor if it takes longer than say 7 weeks for period to arrive..

It can take a while to fall back into a regular cycle. Which pill were you on?

Cosmogirl · 18/03/2008 21:32

Dianette for about 4 years, then Dr switched me to Yasmin for about the last 4 ish years..

Yasmin will stop ovulation completely, so it might take a little while for your own hormones to kick in again.

I would give it 6-8 weeks then maybe see your GP if no return of your cycle. You can have a blood test to check your hormone levels.

Thanks Sidge. I think I will wait a while before seeing Dr. I'm just being impatient I suppose, because am so used to the routine of knowing when AF will arrive. No immediate rush I guess, we aren't planning on trying for a baby until Oct time at the earliest.
