Really nervous, so nervous in fact that the GP has given me Temazepam for tonight....

What are you nervous about, the results or the procedure?

dinny · 18/03/2008 20:43

the results

Did they tell you why you needed it?

dinny · 18/03/2008 20:45

yes, my Dad's cardiologist has told me and my sister to have one, my dad has cardiomyopathy

have been putting it off for ages, screwed up the courage to see GP today and she's arranged one for tomorrow.

Crikey poor you and your dad. Not nice, i can see why you are so nervous - am a+e nurse so understand the implications. Have you taken temazepam before? It can really floor you. Good luck tomorrow - will you post how you get on?

dinny · 18/03/2008 21:02

Thanks, Pincushion,

Yes, have taken Temazepam before but only, ahem, illegally after clubbing in my yoof...

Quite looking forward to it tomorrow!

Cab't decide what time to take it - GP said am but pharmacist said at lunchtime for best effect (it is happening at 3pm) what you reckon?

GP listened to my heart, could she pick up any probs like that or not really? I always wear a HR monitor when running and it seems normal....

if your going to get a lift then couple of hours, you know not to drive or anything! And make sure you have things after wards sorted incase you are floored by the t. You may not be....

The doc would have heard any irregularities in the sounds but only the ecg will pick up changes in the heart muscle. Better you know and if you are a fit person anyway all the better.

dinny · 18/03/2008 21:16

so can ECG show changes in heart muscle? how so?

hmmm, surgery is withing walking (staggering) distance, so am planning to drop ds at nursery at midday, go home and take it, have an hour of sheer bliss and then walk to surgery when bit less wrecked (only 5 mins)

then dh home to pick up kids BUT we have dd's play to watch at 5pm..... hope all is ok

How did it go?

dinny · 20/03/2008 14:23

thanks for asking, Pincushion

ECG fine and so quick, copy been sent to my Dad's cardiologist and copy to my GP.... So don't really know yet. the nurse said it looked fine, would she be able to spot anything untoward, do you think?

macwoozy · 20/03/2008 14:28

What type of cardiomyopathy dinny?

Highlander · 20/03/2008 14:45

was it carried out in GP surgery by automated machine? Or at hospital?

GPs and automated machines regularly give wonky results, purely due to incorrect placement of leads.

pincushion · 20/03/2008 16:35

If she said it looked fine - then prob is. the changes that would show up if your situation was serious would be quite prominent and she would have got a doc to look at it straight away. So you can prob enjoy your easter - without the use of Temazepam!! Happy Easter.

lucyellensmum · 20/03/2008 17:37

I've just texted a friend to check this up, but i am pretty sure CM is fairly obvious on ECG, so nurse would be able to tell?? I could be wrong.

dinny · 20/03/2008 18:17

Macwoozy, cardiologist still not sure, but nearest to ARVC

Highlander, GP surgery

Thanks, LEM
