Feel absolutely lousy , aching body , headache , thirsty, no appetite and feel sick . I have been sleeping loads .I had a Flu jab 3 weeks ago so how come I've got Flu ? The pharmacist who did it was in a bad temper that day I over heard him say to his assistant he didn't really have time to do the jab . He did anyway . Now I'm starting to wonder did he really give me a flu jab

Are you just planning to get arsey with everyone who replies to you?

Clearly!

hellsBells246 · 12/01/2024 16:57

Did I say when my symptoms started?

🙄🙄 You said your body was aching yesterday, so I assumed that's when your other symptoms started too.

Clearly this virus is making you grumpy. I'd rest up, drink plenty of fluids, and let your body recover.

I think it’s hard to be sure if it’s flu or a flu-like virus, especially when there’s so many viruses around.

Ive had something that felt like flu since last Fri that has started to feel much better today . But hot/cold, aching, pain in the eyes, bad cough, headache etc. If it’s flu then I think the vaccination I had will have hopefully meant I’ve escaped lightly. As others say, a vaccine won’t stop you catching flu or covid but hopefully will make them milder.

lljkk · 12/01/2024 17:24

Gosh, it's like covid jabs don't always prevent covid, too. Who knew, right?

Auldspinster · 12/01/2024 17:30

I get vaccinated every year and am currently waiting for an ambulance to transport me to hospital as I'm on day 9 and an still having fevers of 39.5⁰. Its just bad luck.

Might be lesser flu thanks to the jab, might be covid...You can get pcrs from boots which tell you.

But I highly doubt the pharmacist gave you a fake jab because he was mardy!

I know he gave me a flu jab . I'm just pissed off that it didn't seem to work.

It's not flu, you wouldn't be able to type on mumsnet if you had flu.

This nonsense gets trotted out every time someone says they have flu. I did the Christmas big shop with flu - I felt rough but was functioning for a couple of days before I was tested (a heart problem means i have to seek medical attention for anything respiratory). I have very little memory of those few days and I know I looked like a zombie, but tapping away on Mumsnet would have been perfectly possible at any time.

MedSchoolRat · 12/01/2024 19:07

Flu can be asymptomatic, mild (probably most cases) or severe.

FlyingFlamingo · 12/01/2024 19:16

I had confirmed flu last year, I was in a covid swabbing study and they found flu on one of my swabs. I didn’t even feel ill enough to take any time off work, I was in work when the text came through and my boss sent me home to avoid infecting anyone else, I was always in the ‘if you can get out of bed it’s not flu’ camp before but I can only assume I had a very mild case because I had been vaccinated.

I'm starting to feel better that's why I'm tapping away on mums net

So when did you start with symptoms op? I’d assume at least a week ago if you are starting to feel better now, and it takes 2-4 days after exposure to start with symptoms, which means your flu jab wouldn’t have been fully active when you were exposed, as it takes around 14 days to kick in properly.

Hope you feel better soon.

WhatAFoolishFool · 13/01/2024 14:28

It doesn’t prevent the flu in every case, there are many strains and sometimes it can just dull the effect. I’ve had the flu after a flu jab before. It’s really rotten

Myridiculousstomach · 13/01/2024 18:24

The main viruses doing the rounds at the moment are flu and Covid with colds dropping below them over the past month or so (ref: this weeks UK flu report) so very likely that you have flu or Covid. And, no, you don’t have to be unable to type/look at your phone/stand if you have flu - that is a myth. It can be severe to mild like other viruses. If you’re interested OP, you can buy a flu swab test in Tesco to find out for sure and pick up a Covid lateral flow while you’re at it - that way you’ll know if you’ve caught flu after having the jab or not.

Itstime2023 · 16/10/2024 18:51

No vaccine is 100%

Walkden · 16/10/2024 19:04

You may not have flu at all. What's that other virus that people say is just like it? 😂
