I would probably agree with your dr.

My dh had a bout of stomach problems a year ago and at the time I was going through horrid panic/anxiety and depression. I was calling him home from work everyday in a real state and he was stressed up to his eyeballs. Not to mention the fact that he is the only one working.

His Dr said it could be IBS but tbh I'm sure its stress related.

I know myself when I get anxious and worried my stomach goes to pot (literally).

Tiredness is a symptom of stress/anxiety/depression too.

Give the Citalopram a go.
It normally takes about 4 weeks for you to feel the effects.

What do you mean? As in how long you can have them for?

I've been on them for 16 months now.

I take both citalopram and amitriptiline - neither for depression.

Amitriptiline is for sleeping (I have chronic pain and sleeping sometimes evades me). Works fine for that and I pick it up/put it down but I agree with the soporific affect - I feel v tired the next morning.

Citalopram was prescribed to "alter my perception of pain". And I guess it's working because I was incredibly low with the pain before and although the pain is the same I do feel more positive generally, so I guess that is kind of like depression. The consultant said it is a very useful drug for all sorts of things not just depression - it's even used for bedwetting! I haven't found it addictive and go on it/come off it as I need to from month to month but you do have to reduce the amount you are taking slowly as I was getting headaches when I tried stopping it in one hit.

Tbh I'm on a very low dose and atm I'm 14 weeks post natal and having a bit of a dip (hormones all over and periods doing their own thing blah blah).

But when I started on them I was on 20mg and I really felt the effects.
I could tell my mood had lifted and I was feeling less anxious.
I had to go down to 10mg though as they started to make me sick.

When I first started to take them I changed my diet too.
I cut out chocolate, fizzy drinks, cheese and alcohol and it certainly made a difference.

My dh has picked up that I'm having a lull atm because the housework has piled up again and thats how I get.
Stressed out over small jobs and then I lose my temper and get wound up.

Am wondering who you are now?

your welcome

All you can do is give it a whirl and if you dont feel any better for it then go back to your dr.

You've recognised that something isnt right and your not your usual self. Thats a good thing.

Good luck with it.
I hope it works for you.
