Recurring single mouth blister and cold symptoms

I’d really appreciate some advice.
I’ve seen so many doctors and dentists about this and nobody knows what it is so I thought I may as well ask the internet. Dr google is no better than my GPs. It’s not life threateningly serious just highly irritating.

Since I was a teen I’ve had a viral response that causes irritating but usually short lived colds and/or sore throats. I get a runny nose then I get a single blister on my soft palette in my mouth or upper throat. It gets itchy, rarely sore unless in my throat but sometimes irritated feeling and as soon as it goes the cold goes too. Usually between two days and a week.

We have determined what it is not.

It is not herpes (it’s been tested so many times) and the blister doesn’t take on a herpes lifecycle. Never had a cold sore either. Aciclover doesn’t work on it.

It is not herpengina (this apparently is lots of blisters or more than one and you become immune once you’ve had it). I’ve had this over 500 times (I worked out at roughly 20 times a year for two days each time based on my diaries)

Its not hand foot and mouth.

It is not a canker sore or mouth ulcer (although I am prone to these for other reasons)

Its not an allergic response as antihistamines (even liquid piriton) does nothing.

It’s been a recurring irritant all my life but mostly I live with it. For the past ten years I’ve been taking immunosuppressants and it hadn’t made it worse. If anything I’ve had it less. Until now.

Since November I’ve had a cold. It’s been quite bad at times but it’s never gone away. I’ve had blister after blister, as one goes another appears nearby a day later but not in the same place. I’m convinced the cold symptoms are due to the irritation in my mouth and my body responding with sneezes and snot as it thinks it needs to flush something out.

I’m genuinely at my wits end. I ought to buy Kleenex shares I get through so many tissues. Has anyone experienced similar or have any ideas what this could be? I’m going mad at not shaking this bloody cold.

Have you seen a maxillofacial consultant ? Just so much better to see an expert and rule out anything really unpleasant. They are also
going to have a better idea of unusual conditions rather than your GP. Your GP or dentist should be referring you given its
persistence. Have you asked for a referral? Hope you get it sorted.

your cold could potentially be you getting multiple different viruses one after the other. RSV, covid, standard cold and flu are all up in infection rates so this is a possibility.

I work with kids and have been run down to fuckery since last half term. Near constant cold like symptoms and I’m still iffy (blocked ear) now but significantly better

I also had a really really bad bought of mouth ulcers over Christmas that took forever to heal. A good 2 weeks and multiple. Even bonjela didn’t help with the pain.

this is anecdotal as I can’t say for sure this but I certainly improved dramatically when I started high dose vitamin D, iron + vit C and vitamin B complex. It might also have been down to having two weeks to actually rest over Xmas and not come in contact with other people so no more viruses!

I only get mouth ulcers when my immune system takes a battering and they were really bad this time.

I have been seen by two prestigious oral medicine consultants at a dental hospital for the disease that causes the ulcers and why I’m immunosuppressed and they didn’t really know what the blisters would be. Of course there were none when I saw them. They are both medical doctors and dentist trained and university researchers and teachers of the subjects. I thought they were my last hope

My rheumatology consultants have seen them but have no idea and didn’t really understand the long standing recurrence of the virus.
