6th Febrile Convulsion

DD had 6th FC yesterday. Two in one day brought on by chest infection. Took docs advice that she is prone to these and may have more and was not overly anxious, but now at home wondering whether I should have pushed for further investigation.

I don't know in the UK (I'm in Belgium), maybe you can ask your pharmacist or GP?

I had to beg our paediatrician for paracetamol suppositories. They are ridiculously expensive, about £20 for a days supply

Just got some. Glad on prescription as v expensive by sounds of it.

having suppositories on hand always reassures me. (my ds had one at 16 months and my dd child had a 'vague out' at 3 months - pre-cursor to them - she was in A and E at the time thankfully). Also, don't use sleeping bags if any query over them being a bit 'off' or ill. I'm sure this contributed to ds temp raising so rapidly, as i didn't even know he was ill until he fitted, his temp had spiked so rapidly. it's an awful anxiety - i really feel for you. xx

It is now a week later, dd has just finished her course of antibiotics and her cold and cough has come back already. Her temp is fluctuating and the docs of course is shut. I am calpoling but feel like this cough has never gone away. My poor dd-feels like she is on antibiotics all the time at mo, before she started this course she was on a low dose antibiotic for a recurrent ear infection.

My DS has had 2 bad chest infections/pneumonias that have landed him in hosptial- when he was discharged they said the cough can persist for 4-6 weeks so I wouldn't worry about that- although the first time he was discharged he wasn't given anti biotics for long enough and the infection came straight back- I suspect this is what is happening to your DD?
If she is OK in herself and you are keeping the temps under control , you can 'watch and wait', but with her history of FC's, I would take her to the OOH's GP's, where they can listen to her chest to see if it is clear or not- and restart her on treatment if needs be/

Good luck!
