Dreadful migraine and still not right

Around just after lunchtime yesterday, my eyes went funny. I couldn’t read words, even though I could see them.

Within an hour, one sided pain had started. This built up to an excruciating pain and I was throwing up constantly. I couldn’t lay down for the pain, and just sat in the dark for hours, eventually falling asleep around 1am.

During all of this time I had taken 3 sumatriptan; 4 paracetamol and about 6 ibuprofen, but nothing was going to shift it. More tablets than I normally take in about 6 months!

I woke up at 10am and the worst of the pain is gone. But my eyes feel a little strange and I feel like I need to move around slowly and be careful. I’ve taken more ibuprofen and paracetamol, but I still feel off and am worried about the headache coming back.

Anyone experienced anything similar?

Migraine comes in 3 phases:

Prodrome- easy to miss, usually is being restless, needing the loo, feeling sick, being depressed and irritable. I usually don't notice mine except in hindsight.

Headache. May or may not have an aura at the start.

Aftermath. Headache has gone but you are exhausted.

With that many tablets unfortunately you may have triggered it coming back, or as it was so bad it may be coming back anyway - mine tend to be 3 day marathons swapping sides.

Hopefully you are just experiencing aftermath and just need to rest.

Thank you. I didn’t know about the phases.

I hope this is the end phase too. I took quite a few tablets compared to normal as I kept throwing up to absolutely nothing, but I wish I hadn’t in retrospect.

I’m sitting very quietly in the living room and may go for a nice shower in a minute.

Thank you again.

3 day marathons! 😧

Yes, the long and horrible last phase is quite normal unfortunately.
There seem to be a lot of migraine posts at the moment. All that cheese, chocolate, flashing Christmas lights and stress I expect- and of course weather is a trigger so that will be affecting a lot of people too.

Might be worth asking your Gp for antisickness tablets for next time.

I call it the migraine hangover. Mine always lasts a day then lifts. It's crap.

Thanks all.

Still have the migraine hangover. It’s sort of lingering, making me want to move quite slowly. I still have a sharp pain in the back of my head (left side) when I tip my head forwards or backwards. I’ve spent the day resting and DH surprised me with a McFlurry which actually really helped, all that cold going to my brain felt wonderful.

Im a little worried about the lingering pain, but I guess we’ll see in the morning.

Anti sickness tablets are a great idea. I’ll ask for those, as the pain from throwing up was just awful.
