Sore and achy after Christmas indulgence?

Over Christmas like most people I guess I've eaten a lot of meat, dairy, sugar, things like crisps, etc and less fruit and veg than I normally would. I feel so achy and stiff in my joints - do you think it could be an inflammatory thing? Anyone else finding this? I did eat better today, and went to the gym, but honestly I feel about a million years old!

gout?

cerisepanther73 · 28/12/2023 09:13

@lurchermummy

Yes i think so ,

it's quite well know certain foods can be inflammatory for joints,

Some foods are on the alkine and other foods are acidic side,

eating too much of either can have this unfortunate effect,
out of balance,

I have been diagnosed for several years now with Rumertoid athritis and more recently OestoAthritis too.

My advice is to get yourself checked for Rumertoid athritis it's a blood test

@lurchermummy
Could be Gout as that's can excruciating painful too.

Since I had a hysterectomy I get this every time I eat sugar, gluten or drink alcohol (even in moderation). I’ve no idea what the cause is but it’s really bloody restrictive, especially at Christmas! I just seize up and ache all over.

Or it could be because you have been cleaning, from top to bottom, lugging heavy items such as parents, furniture, going in lofts, hoovering, heavy turkeys trays of food, dinning tables, making bed, lugging shopping in and out of cars/buses etc and now you have slowed down.
Then not doing your normal activity

Then the alcohol affecting sleep and small increase in weight will all add to the load on your joints.

Wow, well a few days in of cutting back on sugar and crap and getting more exercise and I do feel less sore. I knew sugar was inflammatory but I have never had such a noticeable response before. How are other people feeling?

@Menomeno - interesting - I haven't had a hysterectomy but I am post menopausal and I definitely think that's made a difference, it's like my body can't process all the bad stuff anymore
