So DH had an appointment with GP this week after having reflux symptoms for a couple of weeks. Pain in middle of chest, always in the morning but not every day, sometimes feels nauseous.

Was prescribed omeprazole and asked to go for an ecg "just to check things out" which he had done yesterday. Nurse said it didn't look right, asked GP to have a look who agreed. GP said they'd email the ecg to a cardiologist and would be in touch because with the chest pains and this result she was quite concerned.

He didn't hear anything yesterday and now the surgery is closed for Christmas 🤷🏼‍♀️

Tbh I think the chest pains are unrelated, it seems like classic reflux symptoms and he had the same pain yesterday but much milder and short lived, so I'm thinking the omeprazole is starting to work.

Should we be more worried?! Surely if they were that concerned they'd have sent him to hospital?

Yes absolutely, they'd recognise anything acute such as an infarct but there are a myriad of arrhythmias that don't need urgent treatment.

That's what I thought but DH is a bit of a drama llama when it comes to health issues.

If you want to know more yourselves and have about 150 pounds to spare, buy a Kardia. It is available on Amazon. It is a little medical device that can run a very good ECG at home and it synchs to an app on your phone. It gives you an immediate read of the ECG for some of the most common arrthymias and you have the option of sending it to a cardiologist for a full read for a small extra fee. They do the read in a few hours.

Probably wouldn’t bother splashing the cash on this unless they said it was a rhythm thing they’d spotted on the ECG (and it’s pretty unlikely they’d have sent him home without saying it if it was). There’s loads of stuff that ECGs can show that are nothing to do with the rhythm (and may not even be a problem, but just need a more expert set of eyes to decide that).
